We stayed at the beach for ages, but it began to grow cold. As we filed to Rob's car, I caught my arm on the edge of the announcements board.
"Ow.." I winced. "I'm such a klutz..." I glanced at the posters shielded from the weather in the board. A bright poster caught my eye. It had red, orange, blue and purple fireworks in the back ground. "Hey guys!" I called Rob, Ted and Beck back. "There's a fireworks show on tonight!" I spun around. "Let's go! Let's go!" I grinned. "Pleaaase....!"
"I don't see why not." Beck smiled. Oh if smiles could seriously maim I'd be dead.
"Yeah!" Ted cheered. Rob didn't say anything. He just looked over his shoulder. Not really paying attention.
"Hey Rob."
His face turned to me. "Mm?"
"Fireworks tonight! Come?"
"...Mm.... No."
"For me?" I smiled. He watched me for a moment.
"Fine."
"YAY!!" I patted him on the shoulder. "I'll pick everyone up at..." I checked the time of the show. "8:15pm! That way we have fifteen minutes to find seats and get food WOO!" I skipped to the car, completely ignoring the fact i was bleeding. I just kept my towel round my shoulders.

I stopped at Ted's house first. He slipped into the back seat. "You look so cute." He remarked on my outfit.
"You think?" I glanced at my deep indigo coloured dress. The sleeves went to just above my elbow and I wore a thin woollen cardigan. Embroided onto the bottom of the dress were tiny silver lilies. I clipped my hair in a fishtail plait with a lily clip.
"Definately... So tell me."
"What?"
"Who is it? Rob or Beck?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you say you like Beck-"
"I do like Beck." I shot him a glare through the mirror.
"Yeah, then what's with the sexual tension with you and Rob?"
i almost swerved the car. "S-Sexual tension?! HE'S TWENTY FIVE! I AM FIFTEEN." I thought about Rob. Hmm.
"Alright! Alright! It was your idea to see the fireworks! Please don't say you planned that to kill me!" I laughed. We stopped outside Beck's house. I got out. Walking up their long patio to the front door of their house, I saw in the window to Beck's Dad's study that Rob and Mr. Jackson were studying. And Mr. Jackson was teaching Rob stuff that me and Beck should be doing next year.
"What..." I muttered. Then reailised I must've just stopped in front of the house so I began to walk again. I rang the silver doorbell and heard a faint chime ring.
Rob opened the door and imediately paused.
"Evening." I looked at the floor.
"Good Evening. What have you done with Hopey?"
"Hey...!" I glared from underneath my eyelashes. "Anyway, I need to talk to you once we're at the display. Please?" He watched me for a few minutes. Then nodded. He smiled then.
"I call shotgun."
I laughed. "Sure." Beck came out of the house then.
"Wow..." He breathed. "You look... you look beautiful." He smiled.
"You really shouldn't be saying that to me..." I grinned. "Come on into the car!"

At first, Rob hated my Beetle. He thought it was too girly. But he soon learned to love it. As we pulled up into the same spot that Rob had earlier, I ushered everyone out of the doors.
"Right. Rob you go get seats. Beck:iced water and popcorn. Ted-" had disappeared. Of with some girl. I mean I'm not being homophobic but he acts all gay then he meets some girl and leaves me all alone. "Ted has left us... Aw crap not again..." I sighed. "'I'll do Ted's job then... I'll be getting tickets..." We departed for five minutes. On my way to the ticket stand, I spotted the ice cream stand from before. I ordered a chocolate and a strawberry ice cream. I held the ice creams and retrieved our tickets. Eventually, I found Rob sitting staring up at the stars, waiting. He wathced me as I came over.
"What's up with you, grump-bucket."
"...Nothing. What's that?"
"Ice-cream."
"There's two? What about lover boy?"
"I... need to talk to you." I sat next to him and handed him his ticket and ice-cream. I leant back, watching the stars. "People are mysterious, like stars. They shine in the most unusually beautiful way. But you can never quite figure them out. Don't you agree?" I gave him a side-long glance.
"Yes...where is this going exactly?" He turned to face me.
"I have an idea, I'd like you to provide the right information to tell me if my idea was correct or not."
"Carry on."
"Why were you studying school stuff when your twenty-five?" He fidgeted. "You're not twenty five are you Rob?" I breathed, not really thinking what I was saying, just listening to my voice like it were someone else's.
He shook his head.
"You're not Beck's uncle are you then?"
He shook his head.
"Who are you...?"
"I am related to him! I am!" rob's eyes looked to pleading. Begging for me to believe him.
"i believe you."I placed my hand on his.
"My parents neglected me. I came home every night; they were out. I always had to buy everything. Their clothes, food. Everything. They'd always be out either partying, drinking or taking trips across the country without even telling me. i told Beck's parents and they promised to take me in. They'd told me I'd grown since 'last time'."
"Wait, last time?"
"I'm Beck's cousin." I gasped a little.
"How old are you?"
"Seventeen."
"Bloody hell you look hot for a seventeen yearold. Like unususallly hot." i blinked.
"Let's hope I don't end up like my parents..."
"You won't! Okay? I promise! Anyway, why did Mr and Mrs Jackson say that you were Beck's Uncle?"
"With all the parents being out and never being with me, I'd failed so many of my classes. So Uncle Liam promised to teach me. I set a lot of expectations for myself." The fireworks began.
"Does Beck know?"
"... No."
"i won't tell him."
We sat in silence watching the rainbow-coloured sparks fly. The warmth fell from the sky like snow falls in December.
"Thank you." I heard Rob mutter.
"It's no problem." i paused. "Do you know where Beck is?"
"Nope. Sorry."
"Huh. Okay. i'll call him later when we're leaving. Maybe he met up with Ted and his new girl. He'll be okay."
* * * *
We watched the fireworks until 10pm. When they ended I sighed.
"That was fun." I grinned at Rob.
"It was. I didn't have to be 'Beck's uncle' around you. It was fun." He repeated. "Oh, there's Beck." He pointed behind me. I swivelled around to see Beck. And a beautiful girl. Kissing. My jaw dropped.
"No way. Not now. Nooooo....... NO!!" I said. Rob placed a hand onto my shoulder. Oh... Ohh God.
