"He's close, I can feel him." Gabriel whispered.

"You sure? This place looks like it's been abandoned for-" You were cut off when a hand grabbed you by the hair. A man covered in tattoos hand you by the neck. His hand lit up blue, and he touched your forehead.

Gabriel ran up behind him, plunging the angel blade in your attacker's chest. But it was too late. You could feel your eyelids growing heavy.

"Y/N? Y/N, wake up! You were having a nightmare."

You rubbed your eyes. Expecting to see Gabriel standing over you, it was a surprise to find your dead ex-boyfriend. "Shaun?" You looked around.

This wasn't the abandoned factory you'd fallen unconscious in. It was a...bedroom? An actual bedroom? Not a motel room or your bedroom in the bunker, but an actual bedroom in an actual house.

"Y/N are you feeling okay?" Shaun asked.

This wasn't possible. Two years ago, Shaun had gotten possessed. A couple of hunters had been forced to finish him off. Sam and Dean Winchester to be exact. Shaun was why you'd started hunting. But he was here. Alive.

"What, have I grown another head?" Shaun laughed.

"I'm-I'm fine. I'm just..." You stuttered.

"I think you need to take the day off. Don't worry, I'll call your boss." He smiled as he walked out of the room.

You dragged yourself out of bed. That dream had seemed so real! You couldn't just forget about it.

"Alright, I'm heading over to the coffee shop. See you after my shift?" He asked. You nodded. "Oh, and don't forget to pick up the car from the shop. It should be ready by noon." He told you.

"Of course. I-I'll see you later." You said as he walked out the room. Shaun was alive. He'd never been possessed. This was unbelievable. You pinched yourself. It hurt, it felt real. But so did the dream.

You got dressed. Not in leather, not in flannel, but in fairly regular clothes. When was the last time you'd worn a dress? You asked this to yourself as you pulled one out of your wardrobe. It was a nice dress. White with flecks of gold that matched the colour of Gabriel's eyes. Your boyfriend would love this.

You paused. Gabriel wasn't your boyfriend. He was just a dream. Shaun was your boyfriend. You glanced down at your hand. A silver ring with a single diamond sat comfortably on your ring finger. So scratch that, fiance.

You glanced over at the clock. 12:15. "Shit!" You exclaimed, throwing the dress on as fast as you could. You grabbed you purse and checked the business card that Shaun had left on the kitchen counter.

A short walk down the street to the car repair place really calmed your mind. The almost identical houses, the quiet neighbourhood, the children playing in the park, all of those seemed alien to you. An apple pie life Dean would call it.

You frowned. The only Dean you knew was from a dream. Your train of thought was cut off as you entered the garage. A man wearing a blue jacket, a white tank-top and jeans stood over a car engine. He raked his fingers through his sandy blonde hair and turned to you.

"Dean?" You asked.

The man nodded. "Yeah, how'd you know?" He asked.

You pointed to his jacket. "Name tag."

He laughed. "Of course. This beauty yours?" He pointed to a shining white car.

For a second you were confused. It was a modern car. You were half expecting some old vehicle from the sixties. Then the familiarity of the car washed over you. "Yeah, she's mine. Thanks for fixing her up."

The two of you were interrupted when a tall man walked in. He wore a suit and his brown hair went past his ears. "Sorry I'm late Dean, I had to work late on the Johnson case."

Dean shrugged. "No problem Sammy."

"Don't call me Sammy." The man sighed.

"Oh, mister fancy pants lawyer too mature for nicknames?" Dean chuckled.

You smiled and handed the mechanic some cash. He smiled and tossed you the keys.

When you returned home, you couldn't stop thinking about the boys. The whole situation of them bickering was all too familiar. You could clearly picture them fighting over the last beer before you swooped in and took it. Why were picturing yourself with them, you didn't know. Damn, you needed a drink.

You decided to take a nap. You were probably just tired. You got into your pajamas and slid into your bed.

"Dammit Y/N, wake up! Come on, you can do it! Whatever you're seeing, it's not real." Gabriel yelled as he clutched your limp body. "It's not real..." He sobbed.

The two guys from the mechanic's ran in. Sam and Dean.

"Gabe? What happened to her?" Dean asked.

"The djinn...I wasn't fast enough...I-" His voice shook.

"Y/N, if you can hear us, you're dreaming. You were attacked by a djinn." Sam said. "To wake up you have to-"

"Y/N, I'm home!" Shaun's voice woke you up. "Are you feeling okay?" He walked into your room.

"I've just been having these nightmares. I just don't know what's real anymore..." You said, holding back tears.

Shaun sat down and wrapped his arms around you. "It's okay. I'm real see? This is real. You're gonna be alright."

You couldn't tell anymore. You wanted so badly to believe him. But the thought of Gabriel just wouldn't leave your mind.
