Wolf seemed to smile as he said, "We meet again, Scarlet."
Stallion whinnied and said cheerfully, "Nice to see you again!"
Tiger grunted with annoyance and said, "YOU again."
The trio looked at the Grand Master and nodded their heads and said in unison, "Good evening, Master."
For the first time, I saw the Master BOW instead of nodding his head.
"Good evening," he said.
I bowed, but mid-bow, Wolf said, "No need to bow, Scarlett. We have already greeted you. We understand and accept your greeting."
"You're new to us and we're new to you." Stallion added.
"Next time, you bow to us whenever we greet you or say goodbye." Tiger insured. He didn't sound annoyed, just giving me a gentle reminder.
I nodded and stood straight once again.
The Grand Master and the animals stared at each other for a moment, probably mind-messaging. In the end, all the animals nodded and their attention was focused on me.
I felt like the world on my shoulders as all four people stared at me.
I looked at them with respect and tried not to show my fear as four pairs of eyes seemed to pierce into my skin, making my heart pound so loud, that I feared that they could hear it. Tiger looked at me and his tail flicked. He sniffed the air and said, "I can smell fear," he jumped from his place and circled around me. He went so that he was only inches away from my face. "The stench is increasing by the second.
I closed my eyes for a moment and then stared into Tiger's eyes and said, "Fear is a weakness, and must not overtake you. It is only an advantage to your enemy."
He jumped back with a look of alarm.
He growled. "Your eyes did startle me."
"My eyes startled you?" I questioned.
The Master gave me a mirror and took a look at it myself.
I gave a little shout of horror, as my reflection showed me with glowing turquoise eyes. I tried to grab the mirror as it fell, bit mid-fall, it froze in midair.
Everyone observed the mirror and gasped as it sat there. I grabbed the mirror and gave it back to the Master.
"That is quite astounding!" said Master.
"You're showing early signs of development." Wolf said.
"Development?" I said. "What do you mean by development?"
"It means how well you are advancing with your... spiritual powers." Stallion said quietly.
"Spiritual..." I said.
Then, I got it.
"Spirit is the Element of Mystery." I said.
Their reply was followed with silence and a nod of achievement.
"I must question," I said. "How can spirit be a useful element?"
Master nodded at the trio and approached and began.
"Each element has a representation of something, and we know that each element can represent several things at a time."
I nodded.
"Then there is secondary elements, which are Ice, which uses snow and winter related powers, Shadow which relates to darker magic and spells, and even Storm, which relates to more stormy weather-like powers."
He cleared his throat and continued.
"Spirit represents the past and wisdom. The spirit powers can not only be used for that, but you are able to many other things that may not even relate to the spirits. You may start hearing voices in your head."
More and more questions popped in my mind, but there was only so much time in a day, and who knew how long I would have until these animals would have more important matters to attend to.
So, I was going to ask the questions that I thought would be most important for them to answer first.
"Are these voices intended to guide me?" I asked them.
Wolf nodded. "Yes, they're voices of past, who provide you with riddles and quotes to give you an idea on tough decisions."
"Some are easier to decipher while others are not," Stallion added. "I would also like to add that this happens during the last few stages of development."
I nodded and thanked her.
I was about to ask another question, until Wolf said, "As much as I would like to continue this chat, I have already felt you have enough on your shoulders."
I've never thought of it, and now that I think about it, I did have a lot on my shoulders: going to spy on Shades for information that will either save or put our race into doom, keep secret of this element, and knowing that I will grow stronger and having to make up excuses, would all be difficult.
This was difficult,
and so was life.
And life must go on.
I sighed and said, "I think I'll have the capabilities to achieve all of these tasks."
"Are you sure?" Wolf asked. "I will be able to take it off of you until all of this Shade nonsense has been put to rest. These tasks are all quite hefty for a girl of your age."
I shook my head. "I will be fine, but I must be thankful of your kind offer."
They nodded and Wolf said, "I think we should be going, we have some business to attend to."
He approached me and said, "Good luck," he said.
A turquoise portal suddenly opened, and Tiger and Stallion walked through. Before going into the portal, Wolf glanced back and said, "Expect a surprise tomorrow." Then, he walked into the portal, and the portal vanished out of thin air.
Master looked at me and said, "By the way, you your friends depart tomorrow morning."
I nodded. "Thank you."
I went home, took a shower, and did anything else I needed to do to go to bed. I packed a few more things and finally relaxed. I rubbed my hands over my face and started to think...
And think...
And think...
And think...
I couldn't help but wonder what would happen tomorrow, and whether or not this element could get in the way of my mission.
For an entire race, or for the capability of the impossible?
I would do both, and hope that one thing doesn't get in the way of the other.
