Chapter 10: Kurama...is a tengu?!

Remember? Remember what?

"What exactly are you talking about-"

I chocke out the last word, for Kurama yanks my arm and puls me into a hug.

"I'm so glad you don't remember..." he whispers.

There it was again. I don't remember....

The hug lasts for a few seconds, until I grow frustrated with all this nonsense and push him away. I don't remember, I don't know, I should know! Why is this repeating itself daily?

Kurama stares at me with wide eyes as I back away from him, my knees struggling to keep me standing. "Will you just tell me? What is it I don't remember?" I yell, with all my frustration put into that very sentence. Kurama opens his mouth, but not to answer me, no. He wants to kiss me!?

Tomoe's P.O.V

That guy...who is he really?
I think to myself.

After (Y/n) left the shrine to go to school, I secretly followed her.
Her going to school with Nanami who refuses to wear her hood, was like swatting two flies in one blow for any other yōkai.

Speaking of yōkai, (Y/n) is with one right now.

I'm laying on the top of the schools building, glaring at the platform of which this celebrity who identifies himself as Kurama, and (Y/n) are standing on.

They seem to just have a little chitchat, until Kurama hugs (Y/n) all of a sudden.

Just the moment where he took hold of (Y/n)'s wrist made me want to jump off the building and give him a real beating. But as I sat up, I realized: why do I feel this way?

Heh, clearly it's because she's my Lady and Mistress....

But this is different.

Since a couple days ago, when (Y/n) and I spoke that late evening, some feelings have changed.

It's almost as if I've known her for a long time...and yet, we have only known each other for a short while...

What is wrong with me?

I snap out of my thoughts when I hear
(Y/n) yell something. She standsa few feet away from Kurama.

They stand like that for a few seconds, until Kurama goes closer to (Y/n).....AND TRIES TO KISS HER?!

In an instant I jump off the building and kick this celebrity in the face, just before he manages to actually kiss my Lady and Mistress. As he flies backwards and hits the railing, I glance at (Y/n) with concern, but she smiles with tears in her eyes and nods, signifying that she's alright.

Kurama has a bruise on his face as he slowly lifts himself off the ground.

"Oh, I see that you already have a Familiar," Kurama says with a smirk on his disgusting face.

"What were you planning to do with my Lady and Mistress?" I ask, pretty much already knowing the answer. "Why isn't it obvious? I tried to win (Y/n)'s heart by kissing her here so I could become her Familiar, so I could steal her Gods mark and become a God myself."

(Y/n) seems to have a mixed expression between surprise and disgust.

"Become my Familiar? So that means that you're-"

"A yōkai? Yes. Got a problem with that?" Kurama interrupts with stern voice.

I turn towards (Y/n), "A yōkai called a crow tengu to be exact," I explain, while Kurama lets his true form appear. Big black wings emerge from his back.

"And now that you know my true form, YOU MUST DIE!"

Kurama starts to throw attacks at me, which I avoidwith ease. During the fight (Y/n) runs to the corner of the roof and curls up for safety. The tengu throws an attack that I'm too slow to dodge. It rips the sleeve of my kimono on my left, and barely a thin layer of skin.

I'm getting fed up with this stinking crow.
A leaf appears in between my middle and index finger as the tengu attacks again. I jump and land behind him, placing the leaf onto his forehead, making him turn into an ostrich.

"Thank you very much for helping me with the dinner plans, tengu. Ostrich meat is very high on proteins. Ah, yes! We shall have grilled ostrich for dinner!" I say, throwing a fistful of foxfire towards Kurama. He runs away as the foxfire continues to chase him.

I glance at my arm, which has fallen victim to the crows attack.

"Damn crow.."

(Y/n) stands up from her corner and runs towards me.

"I....uhm...Thank you for saving me, Tomoe," she says, smiling brightly as she tucks a lock of hair behind her ear.

I'm a bit thrown off for her sudden thankfulness.

A smile creeps itself onto my lips.
"There is no need to thank me. I would have done it no matter what."

(Y/n)'s eyes widen as those last words slip out of my mouth.

"...I would have done it no matter what because I'm your Familiar, and it is my duty to protect you," I quickly say, making (Y/n)'s face relax a little, but it somehow seems a little sad.

"Right. And now that you're saying that it's your duty to save me..."

"Yes?"

"Then please catch me."

With that said, (Y/n) falls forward and into my embrace.

"This day must have been a bit of a mouthful, hasn't it?" I say while caressing (Y/n)'s hair.
