I'm sorry to announce this, but unless we can get any more submissions, the competition is closed
Criteria
/10 Plot – is it original, memorable, clichéd, etc.?
/10 Style/Flow – is the writing smooth, comprehensible and well written? Has the author chosen appropriate words for their story?
/10 Setting – was the setting unforgettable and interesting, or was it clichéd and overdone?
/10 Character – how are the characters developed and portrayed? Are they clichéd or intriguing? Does the author make their character realistic and relatable?
/5 Concept – was there a strong moral or concept to the story?
/5 Spelling/Grammar – 0-3 spelling & grammar mistakes are tolerated but afterwards 0.5 marks off for each mistake. If there are instances where grammar is clearly intentionally ignored to contribute to the mood of the story (artistic licence), then this will be allowed.
/5 Believability – is the story, the characters & their actions realistic given the circumstances? Were they clichéd or unique and thought-provoking?
/5 Consistency – is first/second/third person POV, past/present tense consistent? Does the author change styles?
/5 Resolution – did the story conclude well?
/5 Descriptions – were the descriptions over-written? Underwritten? Did the writer show, not tell?
/5 Dialogue – when read aloud, is the dialogue realistic and flowing? If there is no dialogue, this criterion will be omitted.
The overall mark will be converted into a percentage. Yzabella_Pen & AmbersEatingCake will each judge half of the participants, each nominating the three with the highest percentage. The six will then be revised by both of us and we shall decide upon the final 3.
