"Dr. Cally Cole to the ER 30, Dr. Cally Cole" they blasted through the speakers of the hospital
"Oh my goodness what's happening" I asked a colleague of mine.
Yes I was a surgeon now. Ally went on to be a family doctor and Maya went on to be a nurse. Riley went on to live in New York as a fashion designer to a huge company.
"I heard that there was a major accident and the patients need major spinal surgery" he said
"Who are these people?" I asked
" I believe a female and a male Dr" he replied. I nodded and quickly ran to the ER where they needed me.
I walked into the ER and saw Dr. Colos , one of the doctors I trained under as an apprentice, standing and pacing.
I walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
" Dr. Colos? You needed me sir?" I asked. He turned around and looked really pale, as if he were really scared about something.
"Oh umm...yes...there has been a double accident on the freeway, the two patients are coming here in critical condition, they are currently being rushed to the hospital. We have to preform a difficult surgery on both of their spinal cords. Cally, I need you to work side by side with me and work on one of the patients...without my assistance... You have been trained well, you will lead the operation." He explained.
I looked at him shocked and scared.
"You..you think I can do it?..." I asked wary.
"Cally, you've trained under me for 7 years. You are one of the younger surgeons here 25, even one of the best, I believe in you. Don't be afraid. You can do it. You will have the nurses and others by your side. Just stay calm. I will call in your husband to assist you. " he smiled at me.
"Thank you sir. I will not disappoint. Is the information faxed in yet?" I asked
" yes most of the information about the accident is here about both patients. "He handed me printed notes and I read the case for both patients. He took the pager and called.
"Dr. Colin Cole to ER 30. Dr Colin Cole to ER 30" he repeated
I read to myself.
"Case 403... Car accident in freeway. Third party car over speeding and hit one car which resulted in that car hitting another.
Injuries are severe, spinal cord surgery needed. Ligaments are torn and need immediate care before any further damage is caused. "
Before I could finish I heard the door open and saw my husband Colin.
"yes Dr. Colos? " he said as he waved to me.
" you will be assisting her in spinal cord surgery " Dr Colos said. Colin nodded and I handed him the fax information.
"Your first lead surgery" Colin smiled
"Yup" I replied nervous
"Don't mess up" he joked
"Thanks for the support SWEETHEART" I said irritated but laughed. Dr Colos smiled at us. Suddenly he got the signal to prepare for surgery as they were pulling in.
Colin and I got our gear on, sanitized and got all the equipment out.
I took the fax info from Colin and looked at he names of the patients. So did Colin.
We both looked at each other after seeing the names.
"Wow" we both said at the same time
