"Are you sure you can't come with me?" Lynn pulled at Kenya's arms.
The she wolf laughed and shook her head. "For the hundredth time - no. That's why I'm here, dropping you off." The hellhound felt her heart hurt as she said goodbye to the woman she loved forever. Every part of her wanted to blurt out her deal with Kai, but she knew this was the only way to keep her safe. "Just text me when you arrive."
"I don't think the pack will miss you if you're gone for a week or two." Lynn ignored the she wolf's order. "Maybe you could tell them that you're on a vacation."
"I can't, Princess." Kenya opened the trunk and pulled out the human's luggage. "If I could go, I would."
"I think you're just being stubborn." She pouted. "I know you could leave."
The she wolf smiled at her attempt to get her to leave with her. She'd miss that. There would be a lot of things she'd miss, like Lynn's smile, or the way she huddled up close to her, or the way her hair looked in a ponytail. The way she could get inside of Kenya's head, her honesty, and the way she read her books - it was absolutely adorable.
"So, I'm thinking of bringing Sammy back," Lynn muttered, "I don't want him out there all alone."
"Yeah, it'd be great to have him around," The hellhound agreed, closing the trunk. Lynn could see that Kenya was a bit distracted as the two walked to the front doors of the New Orleans Airport.
"So what you said this morning..." She bit her lip and Kenya smiled, knowing exactly what she was talking about. Kenya stopped in her path, grabbing Lynn by the waist, and pulled her close. Lynn's cheeks grew a bright red, something only Kenya managed to do. The she wolf then leaned in to plant a meaningful and final kiss on the human girl's lips.
Eventually the two pulled away from each other. "Everything I said this morning, I meant." Kenya placed the bag down, standing up straight, and grabbed the huntress's hand, "I love you Lynn."
"Where is this coming from?"
"I don't know." Kenya looked down at the ground, a bit embarrassed by Lynn's reaction. "I guess from all that's happened. It just makes me happy that we've come back into each other's lives. But it also made me realize that I'm in love with you." After that small confession, the hellhound hybrid continued to look down, afraid of what the human's facial expression would look like. Soon enough, Lynn placed her finger under the she wolf's chin, bringing Kenya's attention to her, and the she wolf was surprised to see a smile on her face.
"I love you too," She replied, pulling Kenya in for a kiss this time. Once again, they pulled apart. "I'll be back in a week or two. Try not to die or get this city killed." Lynn smirked and the lycan twin rolled her eyes.
"No promises, but the same goes for you."
"I'm a hunter, after all, but Archer isn't like this town that's got a shit ton of paranormals. Bad ones too. Do you know how much I'd get for dealing with all of them?" Lynn joked.
"I'm going to ignore that comment because, if I don't, you'll miss your flight." Kenya placed a hand on her hip. Meanwhile, Lynn picked up her bag, and the two stood there just for a moment before Kenya charged forward.
The she wolf wrapped her arms around the human in a tight embrace. Lynn laughed before hugging the woman she loved. "Geez, I'll only be gone for seven days. I'm not dying or moving to South Africa."
"It feels like it," Kenya murmured into Lynn's shoulder, "Just be safe."
"You know I will." The human assured the she wolf as they backed away from each other. Lynn waved before going into the airport and Kenya smiled back. Eventually she went back to her black Camero and climbed in, pulling out her phone and beginning to text a few people, telling them to meet later on this afternoon.
"Do you know the national language in Mali?" A voice called out.
Kenya jumped and looked over in the passenger seat. The hellhound didn't recognize or know who this man staring back at her was. But before she could ask who he was, his eyes glowed like fire and she already knew. "French," She responded, "But most people speak Bambara."
"Very good, mother will be pleased you know the language."
Kenya could only assume that this was Danny, the man who murdered five innocent wolves. She gripped the sides of the steering wheel trying not to reach out and strangle her brother. "My Bambara isn't the best." Kenya clenched her jaw and looked forward.
"Well there is time for you to brush up. We'll be flying out to Mali by the end of the week, have all your affairs in order. Otherwise I'll fix them for you. Be ready with all your belongings, we'll ship them over. Try to pack light." There was a hint of sarcasm lacing his tone, Danny opened the door, but he looked over his shoulder as he climbed out. "Si tilen aw mà na so balimamuso. It's time to come home, sister." With that he left the vehicle, slamming the door in the process and leaving Kenya there to stare out into space.
