Death has also been watching Lilah's close friend, Sam. He knew that boy was up to something.
Missions - When death couldn't be watching Lilah.
"Sam can you come downstairs," my moms voice rang from the kitchen.
I sat up and looked at my door. I had covered up my window as best as i could, so my room was pretty dark. These were how my days were, I'd come home straight from school and head straight into my room. I then lay for hours staring at my ceiling. I don't why I did it. It didn't make me feel anything, but then again nothing made me feel anything.
"Sam get your ass down here right now!" I rolled my eyes as my fathers voice boomed through the house.
I sat up, unlocked my door and walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. I looked over my family with a blank stare and sat in my normal seat.
My mother, father, and sister were all eating and talking about their days. I looked down and folded my hands in my lap.
I wonder why we were made with fingers? Why are they called fin-
"Sam dear."
Fingers are weird. What if I just chopped off my finger right now? Would I ble-
"Sam."
Of course I would. Oh, what would happen if I fro-
"Goddammit Sam stop fucking around!"
At the sound of my fathers loud voice, I jumped and fell bringing the chair with me. I crawled back against the wall and put my head between my knees.
"I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I repeated.
Why am I repeating this. I didn't do anyth-
Oh look at that shiny spot on the floor. I reached out and touched it.
"Adam, don't yell at him," my mother told my father.
"He's seventeen, he should've grown out of this," my father replied.
"I should've grown out of this, I should've grown out of this," I repeated over and over again.
"Dammit Alice, we had him tested several times and nothings wrong with him."
I stood up and put my chair back," may I be excused?"
My mother looked at me oddly.
I walked out of the room but stayed near.
"He just switches to normal, I don't get why my brother's a creep," my sister whined.
"Don't be rude to your brother," my mother spoke harshly.
Not wanting to hear the rest of the question I walked back to my room. I locked the door and went to my closet.
When I opened my closet, sitting on the floor was a small wooden box. I picked it up and walked to my bed. As I sat down I slowly lifted up the top.
When I opened it up completely, a small hologram a small girl with blonde hair showed up.
"Welcome to the soul searcher, here you will have the chance to find your soul mate. But be warned if your soul is the 1% that doesn't have one, one of my reapers will get to keep your soul," the small hologram spoke.
I've heard that same saying a million times, but I still haven't done it. Today was the day that I chose my answer.
"If you have made your choice please say yes."
"yes," I spoke softly.
"If yes, place your hand in the box. If no, close the box."
Slowly I placed my hand in the box.
"Good choice, you will get your results in exactly 20 hours," the box the disappeared.
The next day school went by extremely fast.
As I was walking home an owl flew up to me and placed a letter in my hand.
This is it, I've finally been accepted into Hogwarts.
I opened up the letter and read it.
Dear Sam,
I'm terribly sorry, but we did not find a match. A deal is a deal, so one of my reapers should be there to collect your soul soon.
Love,
Lynna Soul
The letter caught on fire and I threw it on the floor. I continued my walk home, but the entire time I felt like I was being watched.
When I turned around, directly behind my was a cloaked figure. I took off into a sprint to my house. When I got to my house I realized that I wouldn't be ably to get in soon enough so I ran towards the woods next to my house.
I ran until my lungs and legs were burning. I was doing good until I decided to look back. When I looked back I didn't notice a large rock. I tripped and landed face first into some grass.
When I looked up I was in a large clearing.
Directly behind was the same figure.
"How dare you run," a familiar voice rand through the clearing.
I gasped and looked up at Lynna.
"I'm not ready to die," I pleaded.
"Her eyes glazed over as if she was remembering something.
The cloaked figure swung his scythe and sliced through my body.
The scythe ghosted through my body and I sighed in relief.
That relief was then replaced with unbearable pain.
I watched as my soul left my body. As this happened Lynna screamed.
I looked at her and notice her soul come out of her body.
The cloaked figure gasped,"he's your soul mate."
She coughed and try to say something.
"does this me-"
I was cut off when Lynna interrupted me.
"Kill him!"
"No," Death walked in front of me. He grabbed my soul and put it into a small vial.
"I claim all responsibility for this boy." Death stated calmly. Lynna scowled and disappeared. He then turned to Sam.
"You will watch Lilah when I can't and if you mess up I will kill you. If you fall in love with her, I will erase your memories of her and set you free. I will know when you truly fall in love with her." Death said to me firmly.
"Meet me at this spot everyday and I will take you to your new home." Death then disappeared.
