This chapter is dedicated to the author who first caught my interest in the werewolf genre. I hope she takes a look at this book because it would mean so much! Check out TessaT or her other accounts.

A small tapping sounded at the door and Carter's eyes snapped open. The tapping continued and slowly turned into a soft knock. Someone was out there... the tapping wasn't just her imagination. Carter stood up slowly, looking at the crack under the door; a shadow was being cast through. Carter curiously walked over to the door glancing at the clock. It was 7 o'clock in the evening... Maybe they finally came to get her so they could feed her? Carter hoped so, because she was starving. She stood in front of the door and the smell hit her like a ton of bricks. It what the source! Carter raised a shaky hand and put it on the knob and took a breath. With all of her strength, she slowly opened the door, and her jaw dropped and the smell overwhelmed her. The most beautiful guy she had ever seen was standing in her doorway, looking like a lost puppy before he laid eyes on her. He stepped into the room, Carter moved in synchronization with him and took a step back to give him space and the two never broke eye contact. The guy shut the door with a soft click behind him.

"Hi..." He whispered and his voice was so smooth and perfect, Carter's knees finally gave way. He swooped under her and she found herself not far from the ground in his arms. Their noses were centimetre apart. Their eyes never left each other's.

"Hi..." Carter swallowed, feeling herself shaking. In the next second he had pulled her up and against him and they were joined, pressed into each other like perfect puzzle pieces, their lips locking in passionate and desperate kisses. His large hands running through her long chestnut brown locks and hers wrapping around him, pulling her body flush against his. The kiss lasted for a century for Carter and she was as happy as she could ever be. She pulled away remembering she needed to breath just as much as she needed to share every part of herself with him. Two word had been spoken between them, and Carter already wanting to be his forever...

"Who are you?" Carter asked quietly, hoping she already knew the answer. Maybe the goddess and her fates were kind to her and this was the guy she was supposed to marry?

"I'm Tobias..." he muttered, running fiery kisses up her neck and landing on the sweet nape of her neck.

"I'm -"

"Carter... I know..." Tobias muttered against her skin, sending shivers down her spine.

"Are we-?" Carter asked a little embarrassed...

"Mates, I hope so... I really do..." He whispered, in unspoken answer to an unspoken question. His lips focused on the one point of her neck, kissing and nibbling it gently causing soft moans to escape her craned neck.

Carter prayed to the fates for the longest time to bring her, her mate and was he finally before her, in the strangest of circumstances. Carter was overrun with emotions. Her bright green eyes shed tears and that brought Tobias up from her neck.

"Did I do something, Carter? Are you alright?" He asked, bending his knees to get to her eye level, his golden-brown coloured eyes filled with concern and regret. How could this not be love?

"I'm just so happy..." Carter cried quietly and placed a hand on his chest, double checking and feeling that he really stood before her.

"I think I already love you..." She whispered, reaching onto her tippy toes to wrap her arms around his neck and almost getting to his eye level.

"I know I already love you." He muttered, searching her beautiful, deep eyes, before planting another long passionate kiss on her gentle lips. She met with his enthusiasm and ran her fingers through his curly dark brown, almost black hair. He was the source of the damp oak tree smell and Carter knew is this wasn't a regular mate bond! Instead he was an angel sent in the place of a regular Alpha or Beta. His kissed trailed off her lips once more, acing sweet kissed on the corner of her lips back down to the crook of her neck.

"Are you going to mark me?" Carter asked in a hushed voice.

"I think so... Is that what you want?" He asked in a voice carter would never be able to say no to, not that she wanted to say no to being marked! The way Brenny explained a mark was a bite mark on a certain place on your neck or shoulder. For a few days it was a crescent shaped bite mark of a wolf, but then a pattern develops in a light brown or light white shade. And then the girl is supposed to mark the boy and the same thing is supposed to happen... And then you mate... Although a little embarrassed, Carter couldn't wait to be with Tobias in every single way. After mating they would be together emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Their two wolves would run together from that point on to the end of the world not even death would part them and their spirits would run across the stars forever.

His canines were elongated and grazing the delicate skin of Carter's neck and he was about to bite down, forever sealing him to her, when the door burst open.

"Tobias!" Alpha Phillip snapped. "Get your hormonal teenage boy ways away from her, immediately!" The demand rang with the same authority Alpha Markcus used when making a statement law.

Tobias went rigid, he whole muscular body shaking as he was forced to take a step away from his soul mate. Carter whimpered and Tobias looked in pain.

The alpha looked between them. He growled.

"You are not going to mate with this girl Tobias! You should know better. She is promised to you best friend for goddess's sake! Keep it in your pants!"

"But Alpha!" Tobias protested in a rough growl.

"No buts Tobias! Get out of here, now!" He demanded. Before I kick you into the Pack house and then make you look my son in the eye and tell him what happened yourself!"

Tobias opened his mouth to protest, his canine's fully elongated.

"Leave this room immediately!" he commanded in his Alpha tone and Tobias looked from the Alpha to Carter frantically, before robotically leaving the room. The Alpha watched him go and shook his head.

"I am sorry, Carter. I did say none of them would bother you but I guess it's just an adjustment, right?"

Carter tried to open her mouth to protest but he cut her off again.

"I've brought you dinner. Tonight I have decided to let you dine alone, but tomorrow night I expect you to have dinner with the families." He thrust the tray piled with food into her hands.

"If you need anything tonight, Killian will be right next door. My son however is away on pack business right now. He will return in a few days. If that's all, I will be going. Goodnight, Carter. Don't try anything funny." The Alpha said and then left, shutting the door behind him. Leaving Carter absolutely dumbfounded. What even was that? Carter walked to the desk in the corner and dropped the tray on it before she collapsed on the bed in shock. Tears came to her eyes and she wanted her mate, her soul mate.
