Not Yours

"Ah, Tobias! This is Carter." Killian said. Carter had to pull her eyes away from her mate, but feel sparks all over.

"Hi.." He said shortly.

"Hello..." Carter replied. It hurt her inside but she knew he had to keep his distance right now, even if his border-line rude response and harsh tone almost killed her.

"Just in time for breakfast!" Amanda announced and ushered him to sit down and relax. He sat beside her and it took all of both their disciple and strength to not hold one another.

"Tobias is going to be the Beta one day." Killian informed proudly and Carter just nodded in response. Amanda brought a couple of trays and plates over. There were mountains of food, but it wasn't unusual. The Alpha's wife had to cook for the 7 werewolves in her house and now she had 8 to look after, in fact Carter was sure she was going to start helping eventually, especially because the stupid Alpha thought he was going to force her to be the pack's Alpha Female. Taking care of the Pack and all social events were some of the duties of an Alpha's wife, as sexist as it was. The problem was Carter wasn't designed to fill the role of housewife and domestic servant. She was much too active for that kind of quiet life. She couldn't even sit still for more than ten seconds; just like every wolf alive. Everyone, even in her pack, just expected for her to take a husband with a high position and do the stay-at-home-hostess thing... It drove her nuts sometimes.

Amanda sat the last plate piled with fresh bread rolls down and then took her position on the opposite head of the table, facing her husband. The moment she sat and folded her hands in her lap, the men all dove into the food. Carter jumped back in her seat in shock, they were all wild. Amanda cleared her throat loudly and everyone stopped moving.

"I thought I brought you all up better than that!" She snapped, with an oddly polite tone. They all brought their hands back to their laps and looked down in shame, even the Alpha.

"Boys, we have a guest. Have some manners." Amanda reprimanded. "Help yourself, Carter dear, before these boys take it all."

Carter blushed a crimson colour and reached forward and put a bread roll on her plate slowly.

"Don't tell me you are one of those girls who eat nothing." Killian scoffed.

"Killian!" Amanda gasped and pressed her lips into a thin line.

Carter just laughed. She could eat all the food on the table plus eat out the fridge. Her body metabolized food so quickly that her mom had to go shopping every day to restock the fridge, because she would have a massive breakfast, snack until lunch, have lunch and snack until dinner, it was only when she went to bed at night and passed out that she stopped eating. To be honest, she was only trying not to be a pig for Amanda, and her Tobias. To prove Killian wrong, she piled up her plate with sausages, bacon, hash browns, muffins, pancakes, scrambled eggs, banana fritters and a large segment of the vegetable frittata. The younger boys looked at her plate. She could tell they were hungry and her piled plate reminded them of what they didn't have on their own plates. The Alpha and Beta were quite shocked that a 'young lady' such as herself could possibly consume all of that food. Amanda looked amused and Tobias looked proud and continued to laugh at his old man who had doubted his mate.

"Now you may have your breakfast, boys but don't forget your manners!" Amanda warned. Then everyone calmly started stocking their plates, nervously and slowly, so they weren't told off by the real top dog of the house.

"Amanda, would you like some bacon?" Killian asked, holding the plate for her before he took some for himself and then everyone got the hint and offered what they were about to take to Amanda before they put it on their own plate. Amanda nodded in approval at their behaviour and took a small bit of most of the food, the size of what Carter's friends and own mother ate, a human portion... Even as a little girl, Carter could never eat enough food, she was always hungry. It was probably one of the things that drew the Alpha's attention to the fact that she was a possible wolf.
