You Just Aren't Good Enough
And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way.
Mark 10:46-52 KJVAnd, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me, therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
Luke 7:37-43 KJVBlind Bartimaeus is a pretty famous dude now. The blind man who ignored the rebuking of a crowd that told him no, that persisted in seeing Jesus. Blind Bartimaeus got healed. But I'll bet you, that for every Bartimaeus there were ten other blind guys that said, "We're just losers, Jesus wouldn't even care to help us."
It's commonly accepted in most churches that the "sinner" who washed Jesus' feet was a prostitute. In later verses, Jesus forgave her all her sins. But I'll bet you, that for every prostitute that met Jesus there were at least twenty others that said, "Jesus would never help me. I've gone too far."
That is because many people of the church have lost the true gospel, preferring a gospel of the devil instead. And here's what I mean by that: Jesus said that he came as a doctor for the sick, not the healthy. The Pharisees, who pretended to serve God but really served the devil in their own hearts, were "doctors" for those who already had their life together, leaving behind those who needed them.A large portion of Christianity has done the same, picking and choosing to do what is convenient rather than change the world. And that, friend, is why we don't have a changed world.
