"Thank you," I tell the waiter as both Lydia and I sit down.
"Would you like anything to drink already?" the waiter asks as he looks at Lydia and then at me.
"A water please," Lydia says.
"Same for me," I say. The waiter nods and writes it down before walking off.
"This place looks amazing. And I love that this table is a bit secluded from the rest," Lydia says and I nod in agreement.
"It's nice to have some privacy."
"Do you have much privacy? You know, with being a famous F1 driver."
"I have some, more than celebrities. But not as much as I would like."
"I understand," Lydia says as the waiter brings us our water. He also puts 2 menus on our table and smiles before walking off.
"So, you are a model?" I ask casually as we start looking through the menu.
"Yeah, I was," Lydia says and I don't miss the past tense she used.
"You were a grid girl today, you can only get that job if you're a model of some sorts."
"My friend told me about the job and I auditioned for it. I haven't modeled for a anything for a few years."
"Why did you stop?"
"I had my reasons," Lydia says and I can tell by the tone in her voice that she doesn't want to talk about it.
"Okay, so tell me something about yourself."
"Again?"
"Yeah, I want to know more about you."
"Okay, what else do you want to know?"
"Tell me a secret."
"A secret? Like what?"
"I don't know, something not many people know about you."
"Okay, let me think," Lydia says as she continues to look through the menu.
"You're something special Lydia," I mumble, making her look up.
"What?"
"Nothing," I say, trying to play it off cool.
"Okay, well you want to know a secret about me?"
"Of course."
"I haven't had a date in almost 4 years."
"Really?" I ask, surprised she'd tell me something like that and even more surprised by the fact that no one has taken her out in so long.
"Yeah," she replies and I can tell she's slightly embarrassed by it.
"No one asked you out on a date?"
"That, but also no time."
"Well I'm honored that you said yes to me."
"I'm happy I did."
As dinner progresses, we talk more and more about different things in our lifes. We start off at the basic stuff such as hobbies and favorite food. But soon enough, we get to the stuff that's a little deeper and we realize we have quite a lot in common with each other. We also realize that it might be a little too heavy for a first date, so we go back to the basic stuff.
"Wait, you actually love to do that?" I ask in surprise.
"Are you kidding, of course I do!"
"I've never met girl who loves boxing."
"Really?"
"Well, I have met a few, but not girls like you."
"Girls like me?"
"Yeah, beautiful ones," I say, just as Lydia's phone rings. She quickly takes her phone out of her purse and puts it to her ear.
"Pas?" she says as she gets up from the table, holding up a finger to tell me she'll be right back. I nod and Lydia walks off so she can talk in private. I continue eating my dinner as I wait for Lydia to return, wonder who's calling her and why. Soon enough, I see her coming back, a worried look on her face.
"I'm so sorry, but I need to get home," Lydia says as soon as she reaches of our table.
Oh oh, why do you think Lydia has to go home? What does it mean for their date? And for them? Let me know your thoughts in the comments and don't forget to vote for this chapter!!
Love you all
