Ever since I told Daniel about the pregnancy, he hasn't stopped smiling. I mean, he always smiles a lot, but this is different for some reason. Especially since we've been packing up my apartment for the past few days. And today is the day, Macy and I are moving to Monaco. Which means I'm gonna have to say goodbye to Pascalle, which I've been dreading a lot as she's my best friend and I really don't want to say goodbye to her. She's always there for me and from now on, I'm gonna have to manage without her.
"This is so weird," I say as I look around my now empty apartment.
"I know, feels like it's not your apartment anymore," Pascalle agrees.
"It isn't, that's probably the weirdest part."
"But there's a beautiful new place waiting for you in Monaco!'
"I know, but still. I've lived here for years! This is where Macy grew up, where we spent so much time together. There are just so many memories here!" I say and I feel I'm getting emotional. Stupid hormones.
"And you'll make new ones in Monaco!"
"I'm just gonna miss you so much," I say as tears appear in my eyes.
"I'm gonna miss you too Lyd."
"I need you with me, Pas, I can't do this by myself."
"Yes, you can! You can do this and you have Daniel! The two of you are gonna be the best parents in the world. Macy and this little jelly bean are gonna be the two luckiest kids in the world!"
"You think?"
"I know so. Now give me a hug before you make me cry as well," Pascalle says, making me chuckle. I quickly give her a hug, knowing it's one of the last ones in a while.
"You're coming to the airport, right?"
"Of course! I'm not gonna skip my best friend's departure to Europe to live with her seriously hot boyfriend."
"He is very hot," I agree, making Pascalle chuckle.
"I do hope you're talking about me," I hear Daniel say, making me turn around. Daniel wraps his arms around me from behind and lays them on my non-existing bump.
"Actually, I was talking about Lewis," I say, making Daniel frown slightly. Only slightly though, he just can't seem to wipe the smile off his face.
"But I'm the hottest driver on the grid."
"Says who?"
"Instagram."
"Well, I have to agree," I say, making Daniel smile.
"Good," he says before kissing me on the cheek. Then he walks over to the last boxes that are still left in the living room and carries them outside, to the truck that will bring the stuff I want to bring to the airport, from where it will fly to Monaco. The big stuff, such as the couch and dinner table were sold in the past few days. Daniel already has all that stuff in his apartment anyway.
"This is it then," Pascalle says.
"Yeah, this is it. A new adventure awaits."
"You deserve it, you really do."
"Thank you, Pas, I wouldn't have been here without you," I say as we hug again. Then we walk out of the apartment together, Macy on my arm.
"Goodbye," I whisper before closing the door behind me. Ready for a new adventure.
Flying to Monaco with a toddler already is an adventure on its own as it's a long flight. But in the end, we survived and now we're in Monaco, which is absolutely beautiful. And we haven't even left the airport yet.
