Maisie's POV

"That explains things." the woman nodded to herself with a small, triumphant smile. As if she'd solved an unsolvable puzzle or proved someone wrong.

"You're imagining this boy as a sort of companion. Your subconscious thinks that you could fly away with him and live happily ever after. It's nothing to worry about. My advice is to try making friends or finding a pen pal, someone to talk to. You could also try talking to your parents, perhaps that would benefit you. Not only to get rid of the boy-"

I zoned out after she said that, 'get rid of the boy'. Do I want to get rid of the boy? He's doesn't seem to be dangerous or anything. It would be weird, him not being there. Sure I've never spoken to him but he's always just been...there.

"I'll give it a shot." I mumbled after she'd finished speaking.

"Great. That's all the time we've got for today. I'm happy I managed to get through to you in the end." she smiled and stood up, handing me a bill.

"Make sure your parents pay for this at the front desk. I'll see you in a month." she sat back down, smiling at me until I left.

As I was walking I looked at the piece of paper in my hand, '$200'. If my parents didn't resent me before I can almost guarantee they would now. I walked slowly down the hall, not looking forward to digging into my savings to pay for a counselling appointment my parents forced me to go to. As I reached the waiting room, my parents looked up from their phones, smiled at me (they act like they love me in public) and took the bill from my hands delicately.

"How'd it go?" my mother asked in a loving tone. She was a good actor.

"Good. I don't need to come back. Mrs whats-her-face gave me some advice I have a feeling will work." I lied, there is no way I'd take the woman's advice.

I don't need to get rid of him, I need to help him.
