"Yes, that was me," I say, causing a look of relief to appear on Daniel's face.
"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to hear that. Ever since that night, I've been wanting to talk to you, to see you again. I really enjoyed myself that night, in the club and afterwards. I was so disappointed when I saw you left and didn't leave your phone number or anything. When you kissed me the other day, it felt so familiar. For the first time since that night I got that feeling again," Daniel tells me, surprising me with his mini monologue.
"I'm glad you feel that way."
"I really do," Daniel says, though I see in his eyes that there's still something on his mind.
"Daniel, what else have you been thinking about? Please, tell me," I say, just as Macy starts to cry slightly again.
"Sorry, hold that thought," I tell Daniel as I know what's about to happen. I quickly go to the bathroom and put Macy in the bath, where she's sick again.
"Everything okay?" Daniel calls out from the living room.
"Yeah, I'm okay, it's just Macy. She was sick again," I say as I start taking off her clothes as she was sick on herself a little.
"Can I help?"
"Eh, sure," I say, a little surprised by his question. Daniel comes into the bathroom and smiles at me.
"I can't let you do all this by yourself," he says as he kneels down next to where I'm sitting on the ground.
"Thank you."
"So, what can I do?"
"Can you turn on the water, make sure it's not too hot and not too cold," I say and Daniel does as I told him whilst I continue to undress Macy. When I'm done, I put her clothes in the wash before going back to Daniel.
"Is the water good?" I ask him and he nods.
"Perfect temperature."
"Great! Come on Macy, let's get you all washed up."
"How can I help?"
"Right now you can't really do anything. Oh, no that's a lie, you can get a towel from the closet there," I say as I point to a closet in the corner, where I store my towels and such. Daniel gets up and gets a towel before sitting down next to me again.
"Is she sick often?" Daniel asks as he watches me wash Macy.
"Luckily not. But when she's sick, it's really bad, like this."
"I'm sorry, it must be hard to do that all on your own."
"I have Pascalle, who helps a lot, though of course she can't always be here. But I manage. Of course there are tough times, but until now, I've been able to handle everything."
"I have a lot of respect for you, you know that?"
"What, why?" I ask confused as I finish washing Macy.
"Because you've been doing this all by yourself and you're so strong and brave. And despite everything you've been dealing with, you're not feeling sorry for yourself. A lot of people would've been able to do that," Daniel says, making me smile as Daniel wraps the towel around Macy.
"Thank you, I've never really thought about it like that."
"You're welcome," Daniel says as he starts drying Macy. To my surprise, she actually doesn't mind. Normally, she isn't too fond of strangers, especially when she's not feeling well. But she seems to let do Daniel whatever he wants.
"You like Daniel, don't you?" I ask Macy as Daniel lifts her out of the bath, the towel still wrapped around her.
"Yes!" she says, making me smile.
"Good, so do I," I say as I look at Daniel, who is smiling as well.
"I'm glad to hear that," he says as he carries Macy out of the bathroom.
"Her room is over here," I say, leading the way. Daniel follows me and puts Macy down on her dresser. I quickly pick something for her to wear before dressing her. Daniel lets me do it, probably because he has no idea how to do it. I put Macy back in her bed and because of all the events that just occurred, she falls asleep almost instantly.
"Thank you for helping, you really didn't have to do that," I tell Daniel as we sit back down on the couch.
"It's okay. Like I said, I couldn't just let you do all that by yourself, even if you do normally do it alone."
"That's very sweet of you, thanks again."
"If you want me to, I can stay a little longer so you can get some sleep. Because no offense, but you look like you need it," Daniel says, making me chuckle.
"Yeah, I do need it."
"Then go, take a quick nap. Or a long one, I don't care."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure. I'll entertain myself, you get some rest," Daniel says and I smile at him. At that moment, I feel myself falling harder for Daniel. And I also feel that I should be honest with him, he deserves it.
"Daniel, before I go to sleep, I need to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"As you know, we had a one night stand. And as you also know, I got pregnant with Macy after a one night stand."
"What about it?"
"Those two were the same one night stands," I say, hoping Daniel will understand. And from the look on his face, I can tell he does. Probably also because he already suspected it a little, at least that's what I think was still on his mind earlier.
"So, Macy is mine?"
"Yes, Macy is your daughter."
The truth is out! Do you think Lydia was right to tell him? How do you think Daniel will react? What do you think will happen next? Let me know your thoughts in the comments and don't forget to vote for this chapter!
