"uno out!" I shout as I throw my last card down on the ever-growing pile of Uno cards splayed on my coffee table. "yet another win for me!" I jive and dance from my seat on the floor across from Josh. Frustrated, he tosses his cards on the floor next to him, "I let you win," the highlighter haired boy scoffed. "how do you toss an uno game, it's all luck?" I asked him around laughs. "I don't know, I guess im just unlucky," he replied, standing up and stretching himself out.
"what time is it?" I ask as I glance out the window, it had gotten dark, then look back at josh whose eyes grew wider. "well, it's 8:00. We've been playing for a little more than 4 hours," he laughs, "you still wanna get pizza? Im still up for it." He asks me as he walks around the coffee table and leans down to pull me to my feet. "yeah do we really need to change though? No one's gonna be out at a pizza place on a Saturday night this early, everyones gonna come out later to club or whatever cool people do," I add the last part in with a chuckle. "hey you're cool, you don't have to club to be cool," he replies running his fingers through his hair. "but yeah, I don't think we need to change, you look good anyway even if youre in sweats," he adds, reaching his hand up to his neck to scratch the back of it. "thank you josh" I say and skip out of the room to the foyer, "let's go, I'm driving this time!" I exclaimed grabbing my keys from the hook and my jacket from the closet and hear josh chuckling behind me.
I open the front door and let josh out before closing it and making sure it's locked before walking to the garage and opening the doors. "here we are, nothing too special," I say as I unlock my grey jeep wrangler. "still a nice car though," he says as he walks to the passenger side door. We hop in the car and I start it, backing out of my driveway and turning right to go in to town.
We sing along to songs that play on the radio for about 15 minutes before I pull in to the (a/n I don't like pizza so this is the first place that came to mind) Papa John's parking lot and park my car. "alright les go," I cheer, climbing out of my car and closing the door.
Josh and I walk to the entrance and he opens the door for me, I smile and blush at him, "thank you," I said, "welcome," he replied with a smile, his tongue poking out from behind his teeth, and he follows me in.
"what kind of pizza do you want?" Josh asks me as we approach the counter. (a/n im so devoted to this that im on the papa john's website looking at the menu for what to get) "how about a simple sausage pizza?" I inquire. "yeah that sounds good," he smiles and leans forward on the counter.
"welcome to papa john's what would you like today?" the cashier smiled a fake smile, she didn't look happy to be here at 8:30 on a Saturday evening.
"we'll have a medium sausage pizza and-" he turns to me "do you want a brownie or cookie or something?" josh asks sweetly. "no I'm okay, thanks."
"okay so that would be one medium sausage pizza, anything to drink?" the cashier continued asking, her voice getting increasingly deeper with disinterest.
"anything to drink y/n?" josh whispered to me.
"yeah um I'll have a medium Dr. Pepper," I told the cashier
"and I'll have a medium coke," he says.
"okay so a medium sausage pizza and two medium fountain drinks," the cashier restated our order and we both nod in agreement. "so that will be $15.79." she says and I reach for my wallet in my pocket.
"hey I got it it's okay" josh said when he noticed that I pulled my wallet out. "you don't have to do that, we can split the cost." I replied, blushing at the fact that he offered to pay for me. "no, really y/n I got this," he said definitively handing the cashier a $20 bill. She handed him change and said "okay you guys can go sit wherever and we'll call you up when your pizza is done." So grabbed two cups, "here are these."
We thank her in unison and go to the fountain to fill our cups with the sugary chemicals we call soda and then walk over to a booth in the corner of the store.
"really, you didn't have to pay," I told him, I'd always been self-conscious about people buying things for me. "hey, it's okay don't worry about it," he smiled at me and I was beginning to worry that I was annoying him, so I dropped the subject.
I sat there and smiled at him, and he smiled back. Lost in thought about everything that happened in the past couple days, I went over all the things we did. How he found me in the park, how he brought me to his house when he could have just taken me home, how he didn't wake me up when I fell asleep on the couch, how his cat woke me up. Wait, his cat. "josh you didn't meet Jinx yet!" I felt my face light up as I smiled at him. "whos that?" he asks, his eyebrows knotted together in confusion. "my kitten, they found her at work, she needed a home and I bonded with her so I took her with me about a month ago." I told him. "that's so sweet, where do you work?" he queried. "oh, I forgot to tell you! I work at the local vet clinic, it's nice there, everyone is so sweet, it's really like a family."
I told him the issues Jinx had with her health and how well my job was going. I enjoyed having someone to talk to besides (y/bf/n) and people at work that would actually listen.
"um, josh, your pizza is ready." The cashier piped up from the counter, a pizza in front of her.
"weird, I didn't tell her who I was," he said turning to me and chuckling as he got up to grab the pizza. "well, I mean I know who you are, I listen to your music," the cashier laughs from her spot at the counter. "my name is Tammy, can we take a pic?" she asks and he gladly takes her phone from her and takes a selfie with her over the counter. "nice to meet you Tammy" he says as he takes a pen from the counter and signs a napkin for her, smiling at her before grabbing the pizza and walking over to me.
"I love meeting fans, it's nice to see the faces of the people that listen to what tyler and I create."
"I can imagine, I've always wanted to create, I write songs too but never do anything with them, I have a job that im happy with most of the time, but sometimes wonder if that's really what I want to do."
"hey, one day you should show me some of your music, I could get tyler to help you too if you'd like." I felt my eyes widen, meeting both him and tyler, who next brendon urie?
"that would be awesome, they're just really deep and I don't want to scare you, I write when im in pain," I told him truthfully. "have you heard any of tyler's music? I don't think you have anything to worry about." He said and giggled a sweet giggle that made my heart pound in my chest.
"I guess you're right." I replied relaxing a bit in to my seat and grabbing a piece of pizza.
i wish i was a better writer but whatever, im enjoying myself no matter how bad this is.
