What I want you to get out of that, is that even though it might not seem like what your calling is is actually relevant or is actually working right now, if you stick to it, God will make your work produce fruit. Don't give up trying to do whatever God wants you to do. The devil will tell you it was all a stupid idea that will never work. The devil is a liar.
One of satan's greatest means to use that tool of his, the doubt of your calling, is to separate the pews and elevate the preachers. While the preacher stands on the altar away from the people for convenience reasons (Can you imagine standing backwards on a pew yelling microphoneless every sermon?) The devil has made that gap seem like the ministers are up there on the stage and the rest are down below in more than just the literal sense. "If God doesn't call you up there on that stage, you can't really do anything for His Kingdom" he tries to tell us.
But the truth is, God can use so much more than preachers, apostles, missionaries, and evangelists to do His will. I sure don't ever remember a famous preacher shouting about hellfire in Fayetteville High School. It was a little adorkable friend of mine named Hannah that led me to Jesus Christ, just through an invitation and by being a real friend. I'm here writing today, heck, I'm alive today, because one girl decided she didn't need a title to have a purpose.
You don't need a title to have a purpose.
Here's where I'm shamelessly ripping off YAPA238's Youtube video "Multiply Your Talents", adding one or two little details and tweaking the idea slightly, and calling it my own.
The Bible says that this rich man gave his servants each different talents (talents being a measurement of Biblical-age money). He gave one 5, and another 2, and another 1.
The one with 5 talents used that money somehow and earned him 5 more talents for his master. His master decided to promote him to big affairs since He could trust him with 5 talents.
The one with 2 did the same, in some way earning double the money, 2 more talents, for his lord. He too was put in a high ranking position.
But the man with one talent hid his in the dirt, refusing to do anything with it. His master was very displeased and cast him away.
We all have talents (this talent now meaning skills, abilities, gifts, etc;) to give to the Lord. But will we? Or will we be convinced we haven't been given what we need to bear fruit? What will our Lord think of us at judgment if we don't use what He gave us to help those in need?
I want you to get over the idea that God is limited in the ways He works. Most people think of "ministry" as something some other people do instead of something they should do.
Here's a verse showing us God doesn't just anoint preachers and missionaries with amazing things:See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship. And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;
Exodus 31:2-6 KJVGod anointed men in construction, building the ark where Jesus Christ's Holy Spirit would communicate with the people of Israel until He died on the cross. God can use construction workers for His will. He can use nurses for His will. He can use students for His will. He can and will use princes and paupers, black and white, man or woman, fifth-generation believer or spirit-filled yesterday. If you have the Holy Ghost, don't allow yourself to be convinced by the devil that you can't because of any reason whatsoever. The devil only tells you that because he is terrified of what you can do when you realize what it means that God DOES HAVE A PURPOSE FOR YOU.
