You Put Me Through It All

Derek Sheperd POV

I see Meredith come running from her house in leggings and another long sleeved shirt along with her backpack. God she's so pretty. I wonder why she never wears anything other than long sleeves. It's warmer out today too.

"Hey." She says giving me one of her adorable smiles.

"Hey." I say back as she shuts the door and puts on her seatbelt.

"Why do you have your backpack?" I ask her.

"Oh I need to get some homework done so that's what I'm gonna do there." She replies.

"Aren't you gonna swim?" I ask

"I have a lot of homework, and all my bathing suits are still packed, and even though I looked for a while I still couldn't find them anyways, so it doesn't even really matter because like I said I have a lot of homework to get done." She rambles.

"You're cute when you ramble." I say staring at her beautiful features.

"Uh, it's really not that cute." She says looking down to her hands.

"You okay?" I ask her.

"Yeah I'm good." She says. I nod putting the car into ignition and press my foot down on the gas pedal.

Meredith POV

Finn would always tell me my rambling was annoying. The drive was quiet until I hear my phone buzz.

Don't want people to see you bruises huh? When Derek finds out he won't want you. He'll think you weird and figure out how discussing and worthless you are. He won't want you. He'll leave you. ~love always, Finn

I tense up and start to uncontrollably shake out of fear. I think he's been stalking me. There's no other way he could have known this much about me.

"Wants Wrong?" Derek asks and it makes me jump a little. Finn's right, Derek won't want me when he knows I'm just... damaged goods.

"N-nothing." I quickly say back.

"You're shaking who just texted you?" He asks showing genuine concern in his voice.

"Um nobody important." I say as we pull into George's driveway. I quickly get out of the car to escape anymore questions and head through the fence to get to the backyard like we always did.

"Hey Mer!" Izzy squeals.

"Took you two long enough." Cristina exclaims sitting up in her chair, and I smile.

"Guys this is Derek. Derek this is Alex, George, Callie, Izzy and Cristina." I say pointing to all my friends.

"Okay now lets all get in the pool!" Cristina exclaims standing up.

"Mer, you are not doing homework are you?" Alex questions.

"I have a lot to get done and besides my bathing suits are still packed and I can't find them." I reply finding an empty chair to sit down it with my bag.

"Well why didn't you at least wear like shorts and a t-shirt or a tank top?" Callie asks.

"Uh I don't know I guess I just like long sleeves." I reply.

"M'kay." Callie says. During all this Derek has stripped his clothing leaving him in just his swim trunks. I continue to pull out some of my binders and books then get to work while my friends and almost boyfriend or boyfriend I think dive into the pool with conversation.

"Mer you should just come jump in the water is so nice. Aren't you hot?" Izzy calls out to me inviting me into the pool for the hundredth time.

Cristina Yang POV

"I think someone should push her in. She won't mind it she lives to swim, and I don't know why it seems likes she doesn't want to." I say somewhat quietly to the others.

"Yeah that's a good idea." Alex chimes in.

"She just needs to relax and have some fun." Izzy adds.

"Well who's gonna do it?" Callie asks.

"What if I go it to get drinks and I ask Mer to come help me and I push her in." George suggests.

"You okay with this Mr. Boyfriend?" I ask Derek.

"I don't know if we're actually dating yet, but yeah I'm cool with it she needs to loosen up a little bit and have some fun."

"Okay George go work your magic." George gives a thumbs up and gets out of the pool.

George O'Malley POV

I get out of the pool and walk over to Mer. I do feel a little guilty but she'll get over it.

"Hey Mer I'm gonna go get drinks for everybody can you help me." I ask and she jumps a little.

"Y-yeah." She replying pushing her schoolbooks off her lap.

"Hey you okay? You seem kind of jumpy." I ask as we walk into my house.

"Yeah I'm fine." She says and I brush it off opening the fridge. I grab four cans of lemonade and Meredith grabs three. We walk back on raise and toss a can to each person. Right after she tosses Izzy a can, I push her in, and I get in right after her.

Meredith Grey POV

I feel two hands on my back then I'm in the water. Crap get out of the water. Is all I can think. I place my feet on the pool floor thankful my neck barely went under the water.

"George!" I yell angrily.

"Meredith calm down just have fun for god's sake." Cristina says taking a sip from her lemonade. The water actually felt kind of nice, and if I didn't put my neck in, I'll will be fine.

"I hate you all." I say sarcastically.

"I hate you too." Derek says coming up behind me and wrapping me in a hug making me nearly jump out of my own skin.

"Woah little jumpy Mer." Alex comments.

"I just got pushed into a pool Alex." I say smiling.

"Well now you're in let's have fun." Callie says grabbing a beach ball from behind her and throwing it up in the air.

Friends, music, pool party, laughter and a possible boyfriend. It kind of makes me seem normal. Right? I never thought such a good time could end up so bad.
