You Put Me Through It All

Meredith Grey POV

I get discharged today. A few officers came in and asked me questions about Finn and they saved the messages he sent me and now they're looking for him. George is going to be okay he just needs to stay here for observation. My mom actually showed that she cared once she found out what happened. It made me feel good, and Derek did too. I'm pulled away from my thoughts when I hear that McDreamy voice coming from my doorway.

"Your escort m'lady." He says and I chuckle.

"Thank you, for everything." I say smiling and then we share a tiny kiss and I pick up my bag and we walk out to Derek's car.

We start driving back to my house when he starts a conversation.

"Why didn't you tell me? You know about Finn." He asks.

"I just didn't think you cared and I didn't want to run." I reply.

"Why would I run." He says and I look up at him.

"I was a virgin until... you know." I say and look back down.

"I would never leave you because he hurt you." I look up at him smiling and he looks at me then focuses back on the road.

The rest of the drive was silent and when we got home we made small talk and told jokes before we made some popcorn and put on a movie. My mom doesn't know that I have a boyfriend, well another one, yet. I don't even really care anymore now that I have Derek.

"Meredith I'm home." My mother says as she walks through the door. Derek pauses the movie and we get up going over to my mom.

"Why is the boy from the hospital here? Meredith Ann Grey do not tell me you're dating him." I just look at her.

"How could you be so stupid don't you remember what happens last time you dated someone." She says and that stings.

"Mom, Derek's not like Finn."

"I don't care you don't need dating in your life not right now you just need to focus on school!"

"Mom! School isn't the only thing that matters! I'm a teenager! Let me be a teenager while I still am one! Why should you even care anyways you never care about anything else only my grades! You don't deserve to just swoop into my life whenever you want since you're never there any other time! So make the decision now. Either stop putting your work before your own child, or stay out of my life and let me live it." I sternly tell my mother with tears in my eyes. The room is silent for a moment, and I run upstairs to my room. I hear another pair of footsteps come up the stairs too and into my bedroom.

"I'm sorry." I say wiping a tear from under my eye.

"This is why I've only had one boyfriend before and why it didn't go so well." I say looking down.

"This isn't your fault. It's. It's not your fault that you have a crappy mother, and it's not your fault for what Finn did to you. It's fate's fault. But fate also bright us together. Everything happens for a reason and the bad things happen just to make you stronger, and so the good things seem better." He says sitting down next to me on my bed smiling at me. I smile back and we share our third kiss.

"Thank you." I say when we break away.

"I'll always be here Meredith. In fact you've got me trapped here because I love you and I will never stop loving you." He says dreamily.

"I know, and it's different. Good different. And I'm thankful that you've given me a chance to feel that." I say and we get under my bed cover and fall asleep together.

The next day Derek stayed home with me while my mom went to work. We talked, we watched tv, he took my to buy some actual food and he even showed me how to cook a little. My boyfriend cooks how cool is that. Now in the absence of my mother, I have my mean mac and cheese cooking skills to help me out, along with 20 boxes of mac and cheese we bought at the store today as well. All my friends came over tonight too and we got pizza. It was amazing. I told them just the basics about Finn and everything that happened. Now I'm hiding nothing and it feels so good; like a weight was lifted off my chest. We're all sitting in the living room talking in a circle on the floor eating the last remind of the pizza when I get a phone call.
My face drops when I see who it is.

"Mer who is it?" Derek asks. I look up at him and answer the call. (An: yes ik the cops would be watching Meredith and her house closely, but let's just pretend that's not how it works in the world of fanfiction for the sake of this story.)

"I'm outside your door right now. You can call the cops or not I don't care because I just wanted to say I was sorry. Sorry for giving you hell in Boston, sorry for stalking you, but mostly sorry for what I'm about to do."

"What do you mean?" I ask shakily into the phone.

"Finn! What do you mean! I'm having Derek, my new and so much better boyfriend call 911 right now so you better hang up whatever you got planned because everyone else has a lovely jail cell planned for you!" I yell into the phone while Derek already has phone in hand rapidly dialing those three numbers. Derek's on the phone with the police when Finn speaks again.

"You remember how my dad is a hunter?" He asks.

"Let me guess, you brought a damn gun with you."

"And if you move I will shoot you right in the head. I can see you through the window.

"You know if you did that you would get charged with murder and you'd spend the rest of your life in jail. Do you really want that?"

"That's why I'd shoot myself right after." He says and I fall silent. But as soon as I hear the faint sound of sirens I unfreeze.

"Get down!" I yell dropping head to the floor while Finn lets his gun cut loose. I hear a different kind of gunshot and it gets quiet. I shoot my head up and look out the window. I scoot up closer and I can see Finn either passed out or dead on my doorstep. A feeling of relieve washes over me  ow that I know he can never touch me again. I turn back to face my friends and boyfriend with a small smile still on my face.

"Well this was one hell of a get together huh?" I say and we all explode into a big, messy group of laughter in my shot up living room.

AN: Do you guys think Finn having a gun and shooting it was realistic? Also I think there will be one more chapter and then this fanfic will be complete so I hope you enjoyed and thank you for reading 😊❤️
