Plan B: Nonexistent

I had been waiting tables, finishing high-school, and going to rehearsals day in and day out for the past four years and three summers.

My day-to-day when I was back home in Wagga Wagga looked a lot like this...

School from 7:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m

Rehearsals from 3:00 p.m - 10:30 p.m (sometimes anywhere between a half hour to an hour later than that, depending on if we're prepping for a big show.)

Wait tables at a local diner from [whenever rehearsals end] - 2:00 a.m.

Come home, shower, finish any homework, and do it all over again on maybe two (at the most) hours of sleep.

Sounds insane, right?!

Well, I did it. And now, I'm finally here.

In New York City.

Leaving my apartment, I decided to cab my way to my biggest audition of my life.

So I signaled a cab, but reached into my bag for my phone really quick, so I missed the first one that had come by.

What if I had taken that one?

But, I missed it and took the second one.

I got into the back seat and told the driver the address.

"So, you're auditioning for the pros, too?" A handsome man with such a beautiful Ukrainian accent asked me.

"Why, yes I am."

"Well, good luck today. I'm Valentin by the way. Valentin Chmerkovskiy, but you can just call me 'Val'."

"Alright, Val. I'm Sharna. Sharna Burgess."

We stayed quiet for just a second until I started to panic.

"What if this doesn't work out?!" I asked under my breath.

"Hey, why are you thinking like that?" Val asked.

My cheeks turned a poppy pink. It was so embarrassing that he heard me!

"Oh, I don't know, I mean, I worked almost six and a half years to get here, and I have no plan B, this is all I am."

"Well, Miss. Burgess, this is all I am too."

"I have too many people to prove wrong for me to fail." I confessed.

"Wow! We are truly in the same boat here, aren't we?!"

"I guess?"

"Here." The driver said, halting our conversation.

We both paid the driver, and we walked into the studio, Val holding the door open for me.

"Hey, Sharna?"

"Yeah?"

"I believe in you, alright?"

"I believe in you too, Valentin."
