When He Left

You cleaned up the house. "I hope they got whatever it is they were looking for." You mumbled.
"Who do you think it was?" Your friend asked. You shrugged, "Fan, paparazzi, who knows." You picked up a broken picture. Glass shards fell off of it. You sighed and sat it on the couch. The frame was just as special as the picture. Seeing it broken made your heart hurt. You picked up the shards of glass. "Be careful (y/n)." She said. That made you remember something.

~Flashback. 2 years ago~

"Be careful (y/n). You don't want to cut yourself." Tao said.
"I'm sorry Tao. I didn't mean to knock it down." He chuckled. "It's fine."
"Your mom won't be mad?" You asked worried.
"Probably but like you said, it wasn't on purpose."
You guys had went to visit his parents house. You had tripped and hit the side table in the hallway. A picture of Tao and his parents had fallen. His mom didn't like you at first but she warmed up quickly​ after Tao told her how much he loved you. "You can't shut her out. I love her and no matter what you say or do, I'll always love her." His mom went silent before smiling and saying she understood.

~Now~
"(Y/n) be careful"
"Ow." You cute yourself on a shard of glass. "Damn it."
"I said be careful!"
"I Tried!" You yelled agitated. Your friend looked at you worried. You sigh "Sorry. I didn't mean to yell. I'm just- I'm just so… so full! Why is all this happening to me? Why do I have to go through all this shit. I didn't do anything wrong did I?"
"No you didn't."
"I must have did something in the past (f/n)."
"Time will make it all better. Keep calm and carry on." She said. "I'm trying I swear."
"You'll see in a few months. You'll feel so different. You'll be happy again." You nod agreeing with her. "I'm going to throw this glass away. Wanna go to the frame shop and get a new frame?" She asked. You nod staring at the picture of Tao and you.

The frame shop only had a hand full of people in it.  No one paid any attention to you and you felt relived. You felt normal. "How big is the pic?" (f/n) asked.
"Um..." You pulled the picture out of your purse. "I'm- I'm not sure."
"That's fine we'll just fit it to some frames."
"Do you need some help?" The lady behind the counter asked. "No-"
"Yes can you help us find the right size frame for this picture?" Your friend asked cutting you off. She handed the picture to the lady. The picture studied the picture a bit before looking up at you then back at the picture. You looked away uncomfortable. She pulled out a ruler and measured the picture. "I... Give me a moment." she said. She left the picture on the counter and walked to the back. She was gone 5 minutes. "Let's just go." You said nervously. "Why?"
"I'm uncomfortable..."
"This is the only way you'll feel okay. Getting out the house is always the best medicine."
"Not always."
"Sorry I took so long." The lady said coming back. "I have the perfect frame right here." She showed it to you and smiled. "It... It looks just like the one we had before."
You said holding the frame. "I know." The lady said. You looked at her. "You know?"
"You don't remember?" She asked. "I helped you pick the frame out for this picture with your boyfriend the first time."
"What?"
"I know it's a bit strange. You don't remember I see."

~Flashback 4 years ago~
"I think this frame would be perfect for this picture. It's a solid red oak wood frame apart of our Valentine's Day Special. If you want I can engrave it with your names and the dates this picture was taken." The lady said excitedly. She had expressed how happy she was to be helping you and Tao. You were the first celebrities she had helped while working there. "That sounds nice." Tao said. "How much?"
"Because of the V-day Special, it's only $73. Much cheaper then the usual $163."
"We'll take it." Tao said smiling. The woman almost jumped for joy when he agreed. "Okay! I'll be right back!" 10 mintues later she came back with the freshly engraved frame. She handed it to you. "It's beautiful." You said amazed. Tao kissed your temple. "We'll always remember our first trip to our spot now."

~Now~
"I remember now. I can't believe you held on to a frame just like it."
"I look at it everyday because you guys were my first celeb couple. I needed a momento so I made 2 that day."
"Wow. Thank you so much. How much?" You asked.
"Just take it. It's free. Be careful not to break this one." She said.
"Thank I will." You dug into your purse and pulled out$45. "Here's a tip for you. I didn't think I'd be able to get this back." She smiled.
"Thank you."
"Everything is better already!" Your friend said as you walked out the store.
