CHAPTER FIFTEEN
MALIAH
I caressed Brandon's back, smiling to myself as he groaned out of pleasure. My nails dug into his skin and his back arched. I lowered my head to his ear, whispering, "Does that feel good?"
"Yes, move to the left a little." I moved my hand over to the left, kneading and he sighed heavily. After grabbing a towel and wiping the oil from my hands, I jumped back onto the bed. Brandon pulled me closer to him then pecked my lips.
Over time we had grown close. He took me places with him, I'd met his brother, and he'd met my mom. Of course she didn't appreciate him much but she handled herself well. I had to listen to her rant about me building a nasty reputation for the rest of the night. She said she didn't like that I moved so fast with him. The real reason was that he wasn't Michael. Mama wanted so badly for me to take from Lai what she claimed Lai took from me. Happiness.
With their relationship already being fragile and my fear of Lainni's wrath, I steered clear of that path. Pam told me some stories from their high school days. Since we were young Lainni was crazy. One of her ex-boyfriends almost killed her because she keyed his first car, and cut his shirts he left at her house. It was all over him not answering his phone on her time. And she did all this while carrying a baby.
Michael didn't very much take a liking to me. I noticed this while speaking to him one morning. I asked him about the verse he wrote for me while I was in the hospital. He replied to me that he trashed it because there was no use for keeping something he couldn't prosper with. Being that I was not that fond of it, I played the bigger person and waved him off while laughing. There was no humor in the situation though.
But he didn't have to like me because Brandon did. Brandon made sure I knew I was special. He told me that one of his issues with many women was that he moved fast. Typically, he would have rejected the date but coming from Lai, it had to be something worth trying. He was so honest with me admitting that he had paid for a hotel before our date, but decided against it after actually sitting down with me. That rubbed me the wrong way but at the same time it didn't.
Kissing the tip of his nose, my stomach fluttered. There were feelings here that I was familiar with. I knew this feeling and I knew I was falling. I wanted him more to myself now than ever before. This just felt so good and so right. It made me want to move fast but I knew there was lots to think about.
"Are you going to take me home?" I asked.
He shook his head. "Baby, stay one more night. You won't regret it." My legs were suddenly wrapped around his torso as we we enjoyed in a deep, intense kiss. I needed to break this badly because Lainni supposedly had important matters to discuss with me. It's just that Brandon had a way of making me feel like being with him all the time.
With all the strength I had, I broke the kiss then gently pushed his chest. He caught on and began dressing as I gathered my clothes. We dressed in silence. That kiss had us both in heat, and if one word was spoken, I was sure we would both be back in that bed. We couldn't be because I knew by Lai's tone that the subject was important.
Brandon pulled up in the driveway then cut his engine. I grabbed my bag from his backseat before planting a peck on his lips, then opening the door. Brandon tapped my butt as I smiled back at him. He started the car as I pulled my spare key from my purse. The lights were on but I knew they kept their door locked at all times. Sticking my key inside, I twisted it before opening the door to see Michael laying on Lai's chest, asleep.
She looked back at me and I frowned. Here she is again, being the fool. This man didn't love her like he said. He treated my friend poorly. I watched him act like things were cool once she left. Any man would be down and out without his man but he didn't. He knew she was going to come back because she was clearly the fool.
