CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

CHLOE

My intentions were good.

I never meant to do this to Michael.

He just kind of was very easy to persuade, and he had been with her so long that he had basically tried to change himself into the man she wanted.

Lainni really loved Michael. It was all obvious in the way she clung to him, and looked at him. She did sometimes get annoyed by him, judging from what she told Pam, but I knew she'd be crushed if they ever broke up.

The thing is that Lainni wasn't in love with Michael. You could spot her true colors a mile away. The girl loved receiving nice things. Pam and I were really close. We were close enough for her to tell me that Lainni admitted to actually liking Michael's money more than him at some point. In my eyes she was a gold-digger.

My issue with her didn't come because she had Michael. It came the night when he sat, pouring his heart out about her. She played him like a dummy, too, cheating in Miami. He came to me! I was his shoulder to cry on when she bent over for all types of men to see, exposing herself.

She was a nasty person who didn't deserve anyone until she found her true self first.

"You look nice," the receptionist complemented. He had a slight liking to me but I wasn't interested. Smiling, I continued to walk out of the five-star hotel.

There was a party going down and word got around that Chris Brown was the host. Usually I would have skipped a party but things were just not fun in the hotel room. Everyone was out on the city so I decided to step out as well. Dressed in my tight dress, I strutted to the car.

Traffic wasn't as bad since I was late to the party. Still, you could see it was lots of people. There were cars everywhere, expensive ones to add. I tucked my keys into my clutch while walking up to the entrance. Two bouncers immediately stopped me.

"Whoa, pretty lady, we're packed out here. We have word from our manager to keep all attendees out unless one or more comes out." He nodded his head towards the small line. On cue, Chris appeared with two shot glasses in his hand. The bouncer moved aside as Chris extended his hand to me. I ignored his while walking into the club, immediately being shocked at the number of bodies filling the space.

Chris followed me to the VIP section. He attempted to pass me a shot glass but I declined. Instead, my worried eyes scanned the club for Michael! He was noticeably missing. Chris offered the shot again to which I accepted then made my way over to Wife.

She was extremely done. The way she gripped onto the rail and how red her face was told me so. I placed my hand on her shoulder.

Our conversation was simple. She kept it cute for me which is what I was expecting. Lainni didn't like me at all! She knew I was never one to bite my tongue. The only reason she had no clue about Michael and I was because I had one bit of respect left for her. I knew he was waiting for me to spoil it for him but he didn't know my dedication.

I'll admit that he did hurt my feelings at the club but it was all apart of an act to make her happy. I knew he wasn't going to play Daddy to her daughter forever. That role would get exhausting as time went on. Michael was going to easily move on, look back at that, and laugh. As far as I was concerned Lainni was going to become a distant memory.

Daddy said I could always get what I pleased if I worked hard enough for it. I guess that's why he calls me a spoiled brat now.

Hissing in pain, I placed my bloody hand under the water. The blood had left trails on the countertop and on my leg. It was all my fault. If I wouldn't have been grabbing so many to throw, I would've been just fine.

Mommy pulled me in as I placed my hand into my blazer pocket. She directed me to the couch where Pam sat crying. I twisted my mouth at the sight. Mom continued to speak rapidly into the phone. I sat beside a crying Pam while caressing her back.

"Darren's on his way. He spoke to your doctor. Can you calm down for me?"

"It hurts," Pam replied, clutching onto my hand. I gulped in pain as her grasp tightened. It was excruciating pain that shot through my body as her next sob left her mouth. Mom wiped Pam's tears away.

"What is she? Pregnant?" I looked down at Pam's belly. It was still a little fat there but not much. She had a busy mommy body which, to me, was just a nice shape but not like slim or too much weight. Not thick, either.

Mom looked into my eyes. "She has a brain tumor and it's cancerous."

Pam released my hand while looking away. I mumbled, "Are you going through chemotherapy?"

"I'm not fighting anymore. I'm done." she admitted. My heart dropped as she closed her eyes, taking a deep breath then silently cried into my mother's shoulder. Was there any more bad news that everyone was keeping away from me?

I grabbed her hand. "I can't. Pam, I hope you change your mind. Quitters never win. At the same time, I hope you stop hiding this from everyone. You don't know how much time you have left. This is not anything to joke around with. Your family and friends deserve to know so they can help you."

"I am going to tell everyone. I just don't know when."

"When? Sorry to be so blunt, but are you going to tell when you're laid in a hospital bed with little to no life left in you? Does my brother know that you're giving up?"

Mom grabbed my wrist. I pulled away immediately. She gave me a death glare as well as Pam. "I'm telling him today."

Darren cane rushing through the door with his phone pressed to his ear. He immediately scooped her up then left with my mother trailing behind. I grabbed my purse while walking towards the door. Everyone was packed into Darren's truck and well on their way as I closed the door.

Night rolled around and I was back at my room, afraid to appear at the hospital. I didn't do well with hospitals due to my real mother and father dying in the same one. Someone once told me I would be there sooner than I thought. From that point on I never entered one again.

My phone chirped as I relaxed in my bed.

Michael: Are you OK? I know things got crazy.

I replied, "Completely fine. Coming over?"

Michael: Lai is at the hospital and I'm here with Lasia.

Smiling to myself, I rapidly replied. As expected he informed me that she had got hit in the head with a bottle.

Michael: She's strong though. But what are you up to over there?

The vibration of the phone tickled my leg. I smiled while reaching for my phone but brushing my sensitive clitoris. It was still feeling a little weird to no longer be pure, but I knew I had made the right choice. A small moan escaped my lips as I dipped my finger further into myself. The flashback of a few nights before replayed in my head.

I dug my nails deep into his back as he entered my tight space once again. He groaned as my nails clung desperately to his back. A moan, mixed of pain and pleasure, echoed throughout the room. He was perfect.

Pulling my hand back, my nails scratched the surface of his neck. He hissed as I kissed the red mark to keep him at the right spot.

My second orgasm ever in my life ran its course through my body while panting, unable to move. Michael knew he had me right where he wanted. He had my loyalty, love, and my innocence at last. I knew we were now inseparable, unstoppable.
