You woke up laying across Wilson's lap, his dull black eyes staring softly into the inferno. It was barely bright enough to deem safety and declare day time, so the fire still raged on. You sat up red-faced, after completely recognising your positioning on Wilson. He blinked heavily before his gaze shifted into your eyes, a cute smile on his face.
"Good morning" He said, his voice resonating in your head.
"Good morning to you too" You smiled and stood up, stretching your aching back and placing yourself back next to him.
Your little conversation woke up Willow, who sat up with her bear in her arms and started flicking her lighter on and burning various woodland items.
"Careful Willow" Wilson warned, not wanting his camp set ablaze.
"I can't help it...I light fires when i'm anxious. Or just in general. It's a problem. An...impulse" Willow explained, causing Wilson to feel a bit guilty.
"Calm down, hot stuff it's not a big deal" Willow teased, standing up with her lighter in search for more things to burn, her lighter being her source of light in order to wander around without being attacked by the...Night Monster.
You felt a weird feeling in your stomach after Willow said "Hot stuff." You knew it was just her jesting and teasing, but it started to really bother you. A mixed feeling of anger and betrayal, but for no reason at all? Lots of feelings are hard to describe, but this was probably the most challenging.
Your attention went back on Wilson, who was cooking carrots and berries leftover from the previous night.
"Like i said last night, we will need to go foraging for more items like food and various flammable material to keep the bonfire going" Wilson announced, you nodding in response.
After breakfast, Wilson pulled out a satchel and filled it with any leftovers and some pockets of water to take with the 3 of you on the journey for more supplies.
"Willow, are you coming?" Wilson asked, his voice a little flat.
She nodded, trailing behind you and Wilson as you see what you can salvage from the wild.
You come across a particularly large berry bush, kneeling down and picking the big red beads. You looked over at Wilson who had his head in another berry bush nearby, while Willow was knelt over a patch of carrots, picking each vegetable out carelessly. After retrieving more food items, including birch nuts and even a few slabs of meat, Wilson grabbed a pickaxe and began chipping away at a tall stone figure. The stone was laced with golden stripes, signalling precious gold inside. What he needed gold for, if he even NEEDED it, was beyond you. He handed you and Willow an axe each, instructing you both to get more wood. Obeying, you and Willow launched yourselves into the forrest and chopped down various trees.
The sound of harsh wood-banging was accompanied by frequent bird whistles and the occasional sigh. You glanced at Willow, who was chopping away at a Birch tree, collecting some birch nuts as they fell. Her eyes had nothing but white in them, but you could tell if she had pupils she would be staring you dead in the eyes.
You parted your gaze from her cold glare and continued on the tree.
"I don't like him you know."
You paused your actions and looked up at Willow.
"What do you mean?" You inquired, shocked from the sudden confrontment.
"I've seen the way you look at me when i talk to him. He's all yours buddy."
Something strange burned inside of you. This girl wasn't very considerate. Who is she to automatically assume that you love him?
She said like.
Like.
Not love.
You took a moment to re-evaluate your thoughts. Now you were questioning whether you really did like him. Sure, you could list many of his admirable qualities but you two practically just met. Relationships take lots of time to build and form, not something that just happens. Sure, love at first sight is a thing but for love to be true you need to fully know and trust the other partner. You kept playing that last sentence in your mind. Could you trust Wilson?
You felt a weird sensation in your gut, butterflies. Thinking about him made you want to smile and run over into his arms. Your mind shifted to this morning, when you woke up to find yourself asleep in his lap. Your butterflies turned into slight embarrassment as you felt your cheeks burning with a pink hue. So many feelings flooded your body, making you feel so much at once. You felt like jumping up and down from excitement all while laying in a silent embarrassed ball.
Feelings are weird.
