WM30 Salvation Series #1 September 9, 2017

Start from the beginning

The Holy Ghost is an awesome thing to have! It's when God comes into you, and not only touches you but completely fills you with His spirit! The same love Jesus Christ had on the cross.. you'll be able to feel that in you! It feels incredible, and it's the beginning to an incredibly close walk with God, one that you couldn't ever get praying without!

So.. how do you get this thing?

Let's start at the beginning:

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Acts 3:19‭-‬20 KJV

Repentance is totally necessary. Everytime Peter preaches salvation and the Holy Ghost, he tells people to repent first. And alot of people have misconceptions about repentance.

Repentance isn't begging for forgiveness. God loves you, and to be begging for mercy when He wants to redeem you anyways is unbiblical and unnecessary!

Repentance is for the saved and unsaved. We need to repent every day, all the time.

Repentance isn't just about "big things" like killing people or looking at pornography or robbing a drugstore! And we aren't "surprising God" with our secrets or doing something that will make Him think any less of us.

We are telling God everything He already knows that isn't good, and when we give it to Him and sincerely ask for forgiveness He starts the process of getting it out of us. Yesterday, when I wrote this, I had to repent of a lack of faith. I sometimes have trouble believing God for alot of things. You can repent for anything that bothers you, and know God has forgiven you for it! God wants to hear all those things, so they don't seperate us!

Repentance is just admitting your mistakes and faults to God, and getting everything out of your system by asking for forgiveness and help changing, so God can move inside of you and you can turn away from that thing!

I listened to a powerfully used man of God named David Smith. I really like to find these greatly used men of God on youtube and similar; they're always full of awesome wisdom.

David Smith has seen thousands of people get the Holy Ghost in his lifetime. He said that repentance is one of the biggest factors in recieving the Holy Ghost. He was preaching missionary work one time, and he called the unsaved congregation to repentance. Thirty people recieved the baptism of the Holy Ghost. He stopped everyone in the middle of worship, said everyone's going to repent again! So they repented again! About twenty more got the Holy Ghost, all of them speaking in God's language and God was pouring love into them like a tsunami. He said, let's repent again!

They did this seven times. Each time, more people got the Holy Ghost. When they were done, over two-hundred people got the Holy Ghost.

If we want to recieve the Holy Ghost, and not just feel it once, but pray and feel it every single day, we need to adopt a life of repentance.

When we are repented, our hearts are clean until we mess up again. Which is to say, until about a few hours has passed. We're all humans, and even though we don't have an excuse or a ticket to doing bad things by just "repenting after", we end up making more mistakes despite our best efforts and need to repent again, everyday, so we can be clean with God. I can personally say it feels so good to be right with God. Especially after I've made a dumb mistake that I feel awful about, I can take it to God with a sincere heart and He can wash it away.

And when I struggle to repent sincerely, I know I can be honest with God and tell Him, "Hey I need to repent but I really like this. I need your help." He doesn't shoot lightning bolts at me for saying that. The world's idea of God is ridiculous. He only judges those who don't take up His offer to avoid what we all deserve anyways. So if we take Him up on His offer, we can see His amazing love shown in a way that blows our imagination on a regular basis!

Your Mission: I'm a strong believer against pre-written prayers: I believe that God wants words from your own heart, not some kind of silly instructional.

That being said, I want everyone to know how to properly repent. And I want everyone to repent. We need to do it daily. So, in your own words, if you want to clean yourself out and get right with God daily, and get ready to be filled with the Holy Spirit or a greater move in the Holy Spirit, pray something like this:

"God I messed up. I did____,_____,____. I thought _____,_____,____. I did ______ to somebody. I had this thought______ and I know it wasn't a good thought. I'm sorry for that. Wash me and make me clean God." Finish it up in Jesus' awesome name, because it's Jesus who made repentance possible!

Repentance is liberating! Even though its sometimes uncomfortable admitting certain things, it gets it off of your chest and out of your soul. It feels like you just took a great shower after getting all nasty-but on the inside!

If we are repented up, there is little stopping us from claiming what God has promised us: His own Holy Spirit. Whether you want it for the first time or the 487,000,000th, every day in a row, repentance is absolutely necessary to grow in God's Spirit!

You don't need to understand everything, you just need to have a willing heart and mind to get the Holy Ghost and be used by God! That being said, if you have any questions, comment, PM us, whatever, and me and Always will try our best to give you an answer!

If you want to see what this is all about for yourself, you can find a church that preaches the Holy Ghost RIGHT WHERE YOU LIVE using the church locator at upci.org!

Prayer Request:

NoahShrewsbery - pray for mom who will have esophageal surgery soon

ILive4Him - pray for her family

iJesusFreak - pray for her father, who has severe diabetes, may need a kidney transplant

blooming_babe-overwhelmed with school/prayer in general

Hurricane Irma and the areas it will likely hit (Florida and surrounding regions)

Comment any prayer requests you want down below, so we can all pray for each other! I'm going to try to make it a personal habit to pray for each of the needs before I publish a chapter!

You know why? Because when we're all in one mind, praying for each other in unity and brotherly love, when we put our spiritual brothers' and sisters' burdens on our shoulders and recognize that the Holy Ghost makes us all one big family, and we work together to lift each other up and achieve God's awesome plans for what He's going to do on this earth in the time we have left...

That's how we can change the world!
