I'm Losing My Light (Zane x Reader)

Hope paced back and forth in her "home". "Why did I...I wasn't supposed too...that wasn't in the..." She trails off each sentence. Each moment replaying in her head like a cinematic film.

 "UGH! YOU GUYS ARE SUCH WET BLANKETS! YOU COULDN'T LET MICHI HAVE HER FUN, COULD YOU!?" Michi screams. Hope lets go of Zane's collar and slowly walks towards Michi. "I thought you said Aaron was your type?" Laurence questions. "IT DOESN'T MATTER! MICHI WANTS WHAT SHE WANTS!" Michi yells. Aaron's face goes dark. "You should be leaving now, Michi." He says. "Nyah?" She yelps in surprise. "If I EVER catch you doing something like that again, ESPECIALLY TO ROSY, you and I are going to have some problems." He says. "Eh? What's this? Ha! Can't have any fun?" Michi teases. Hope puts a hand on Michi's shoulder. Her eyes go wide as she slowly turns around, surprised by the sudden contact. "L E A V E." Hope's voice booms, a crazed look on her face.   

Hope's hands shoot to her chest, holding it. She screams out, in pain. She then starts to laugh, a REAL laugh. A wave of sadness suddenly hits her and she starts to cry. Hope holds her head as all these emotions hit her at once, realizing that they're REAL emotions, not just words written on a script she had been following her whole life. Every stops, all at once. Realization hits her all at once and the color drains from her face.

She went against the script she had been forced to follow.

Of course, she had done little things here and there, but it has never been like this. She showed them...ALL of them.

A clicking noise can be heard.

Hope shakes away the fear and hold her head up high, embracing all the emotions she has felt for the first time and gets ready for what's to come.

"I'M NOT YOUR PUPPET ANYMORE!"

Katelyn sighed as she opened her door. She makes her way down the hall until she's in front of Rosy's room. She knocks on the door a couple times. "Rosy? Can I come in?" She says. She's met with silence. "Rosy? Come on, I need to talk to you about something." More silence. "Fine, I'm coming in!" Katelyn yells. She walks in and her eye's for wide. "WHAT THE-" Rosy and Zane quickly stand up. Rosy crosses her arms and fixes the tiara on her head. "Geez, Katelyn. Knock much?" She says. Zane shuffles uncomfortably and pulls at the hem of his skirt. "What are you guys doing!?" Katelyn yells. She eyes the two, who are both wearing dresses and tiaras with two little horses on the group, up and down. "IT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!" Zane shouts. Rosy giggles. "Zane, you have to stop hiding it! Katelyn, as you can see, I'm forcing Zane to play princess pony tea party with me. I force him to do lots of pony related things." Rosy says, sending a wink at Zane. "Uh...oh...OH! Ugh, Rosy! You're...such a terrible friend! Grr...How could you?" Zane says, acting terrible but believable enough. Katelyn laughs. "Better you than me! You wouldn't catch me DEAD in that outfit!" She says. Zane smirks. "What's wrong Katelyn? Afraid I look better in this outfit than you?" He says. "I'm...not even going to respond to that. Rosy, you're a grown women, you shouldn't be playing with ponies." Katelyn says. "Last time I checked, you're not my mother. Though, Aphmau was my dad for some reason and if you were my mother than that would be-" Rosy says, but Katelyn holds up her hands. "Okay! You can stop there! Don't EVEN put the idea in my head. But don't change the subject! You're a grown women who shouldn't be playing with toys. Take Aphmau, for example! Instead of dressing up and playing pretend, she's probably at work right now working her butt off-" Katelyn starts, but is cut off by the door swinging open. "GUY'S, I FOUND GLITTER AND TUTU'S IN THE BASEMENT!" Aphmau shouts as she runs in wearing a bright pink dragon costume. Rosy crosses her arms and smirks. Katelyn face palms. "I'll come back later when you guys stop being...weird." She says and walks out. "What was that about?" Aphmau asks Rosy. Rosy just shakes her head. "I'll tell you later." She responds. Zane coughs lightly, gaining both girls attention. "Uhm...thank you for covering for me there." He says. Rosy laughs lightly. "It's no problem. And, don't let what Katelyn said bother you. She...how do I put this nicely...she tends to be-" "A buzzkill." Aphmau finishes, cutting Rosy off. "I was going to say party pooper but yeah, that too." Rosy says. "That or she was intimidated by how AMAZING I look in this outfit." Zane says, striking a pose. This causes both girls to burst out laughing. "Quite! Now, can you pass the cupcakes, Prince Zane?" Rosy asks, sitting back down. "But of course, Princess Rosy! Right after Pinky Cake gets done passing the- huh? Oh no! She ate all the cupcakes! Now the Queen of the Dragon Kingdom can't have any!" Zane exclaims. Rosy squints her eyes. "You liar! I'm not dumb Zane, I KNOW it was you!" Rosy says through Zane's laughter. Aphmau pouts. "I just wanted a cupcake." She mumbles to herself. Downstairs, Katelyn shakes her head as she walks into the living room. She sits on the couch, only to stand up again when the doorbell rings. "Coming!" She calls. Upstairs, Zane looks to Aphmau. "Didn't you say you were going to invite Aaron to hang out?" He asks. Aphmau blushes slightly. "I did, but he had to work today. Somebody called in sick the last minute and-" "Aphmau, you have a visitor!" Katelyn calls from downstairs, cutting her off. "Who could that be? Uh...be right back." Aphmau says, walking out the door. Zane looks to Rosy. "Shouldn't you...you know...go with her?" He asks. "Huh? Why?" She asks. "Well, you two are usually joined at the hip." He says. "Well...I had to talk to you about something." She says without even thinking. Her eyes go wide. Shoot! Why did I say that!?  She thinks. Zane raises his eyebrow. "About...?". Rosy doesn't say anything as she plays with her thumbs. She jumps up suddenly. "I'm gonna go be joined at the hip!" She yells, running after Aphmau. Zane shrugs and goes back to drinking the invisible tea. "Katelyn, why didn't you send them upstairs?" Rosy hears Aphmau say as she runs down the stairs. "I have no idea who the guy at the door is. He looks familiar...but I can't place my finger on it. Anyway, I'm going to go take a nap. I'll be back when your done with your pony party or whatever." Katelyn says, walking upstairs. Rosy raises an eyebrow as Aphmau turns to her. They shrug as the make there way too the doorway. Aphmau gasps at the man standing before them. His hair is a dark brown, making his bright emerald green eyes pop. He fixes his green scarf that covers part of this brown jacket and takes his hands out of his blue jeans, a smile on his face. Rosy peaks from behind Aphmau she watches her smile grow. "VYLAD!" Aphmau shouts, running up to him and hugging him. Rosy realizes who it is and as soon as Aphmau let's go, she runs up to him and hugs him tight, her feet coming off the ground slightly. "Aphmau! Rosy! Hey!" He says. "It's so good to see you!" Rosy says. "It's great to see you too!" He says, smiling down at her. "Well, don't just stand at the door, come in!" Aphmau says, stepping aside. He nods and shuts the door. The three walk into the living room and sit on the couch. "I'm so sorry to drop in on you like this, I know it's sudden." He says. "Hey, it's not a problem! You know your always aloud to come visit us- wait...how did you know where we lived?" Rosy asks. He chuckles. "Through my brothers, of course, Garroth and Zane...mostly Garroth." He says. "You just casually asked for our address? That sounds weird." Aphmau says. "No no! Garroth had called me when he first moved to see if I wanted to move in. He mentioned you two lived across from him so..." He trails off. Rosy and Aphmau nod. "So you got his address and took it from there, smart!" Aphmau says. "So, are you here to visit Zane and Garroth?" Rosy asks. "Well, to be honest, they don't know I'm here yet. I'd like to avoid seeing them until I clear a few things up." Vylad. "That's going to be hard seeing as Zane is-" "I'm moving back to town." Vlyad says, cutting Rosy off. "What! That's great! Oh, uhm, if you don't mind me saying... I honestly didn't realize you moved out of town. I just thought you were incredibly busy." Rosy says. "Heh, yeah I moved out of town during the beginning of last year." Vylad says. "Where to?" Aphmau asks. Vylad thinks for a moment. "I didn't really move anywhere in particular. I kindof just went world traveling for a bit, stayed in a few places for a month or two but in general, I wanted to see what was out there." He says. "That sounds like fun!" Rosy exclaims. "Yeah, it was! Until I realized how much I missed home." Vylad says, smiling sadly. "Aw...Vylad..." Aphmau trails off. "Well, if you want, Zane is here if you want to see him." Rosy says. Vylad shakes his head. "No, like I said before, I want to avoid seeing them." He says. Rosy furrows her eyebrows and glances at Aphmau. "Are you hiding something?" Aphmau asks. Vylad nods. "Yeah, myself." He says. The girls look at him in confusion. "You see, my family thought I was traveling with a job, but really I wasn't...I just took a bunch of part time job wherever I was to get by. I didn't want to worry anyone with my travels or money or anything. And now, I don't want to worry them with me being back in town. So guys...I have a favor to ask of you." He says, looking down. The two lean forwards, encouraging him to continue. "D-Do you think...I could stay here for a few days?" He asks. "What!?" Aphmau exclaims. "I know it's sudden to ask, especially for the first time seeing you two in a year...but I was wondering if I could stay with you for a few days until my application for my apartment gets approved." He asks. "Vylad...I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but couldn't you ask to stay with Garroth or Zane? They live so close by..." Rosy trails off. Vylad is silent for a moment. "It's just that...our family has always helped me more so than those two. This is just...something I want to do on my own. I want to let them know I'm fine and secure before I tell them I'm back. Especially for our mother...who I haven't told yet." He says. "They're your family, of course they're going to be worried!" Aphmau says. "This is just something I feel like I should do...so please, would you consider my request?" He asks. The two look at each other. "Vylad, are you ABSOLUTELY set on this?" Rosy asks. Vylad nods. "...Fine, you can stay here with us. We have the couches here that you could sleep on or you can stay in the basement, though we'd have to tidy it up a bit." Aphmau says. "Is it insulated?" He asks. The girls nod. "It's pretty warm! We could probably change it into another room if we wanted too!" Rosy says. "Then I'd rather stay down there. I know you have roommates so I wouldn't want to bother them." He says. SO CUTE! Rosy thinks to herself as she smiles at him. "Well, let's show you the basement! C'mon!" She says, grabbing Vylad's arms lightly and walking towards the basement. "Hey guys?" He says, stopping suddenly. The two turn to face him. "Thank you... I can always turn to you when Garroth and Zane won't listen..I'm glad to have people like you." He says. "Don't mention it! Now C'mon!" Aphmau says continuing to walk. They get to the basement door when suddenly, the doorbell rings. Rosy peaks around the corner and looks to the door, seeing Garroth. She holds her breath as she turn too the two of them. "It's Garroth!" She says. "WHAT!?" Vylad shouts. "We didn't know he was coming! I swear, it's so sudden! Vylad we should- WHERE ARE YOU GOING!?" Rosy shouts as he runs away somewhere within the house. "Right, he doesn't want them to see him yet. Let's go see what he wants." Aphmau says. They walk to the front door, put on smiles, and open the door. "Hey Garroth!" They say in sync. "Rosy, Aphmau, hey!" He says. "Is something wrong?" Rosy asks. "I-I just wanted to see if you were...a-alone?" He stutters, blushing. Aphmau coughs slightly. "Well I mean, besides Aphmau, yes-Well no. Zane-DAUH Katelyn is in her room." Rosy says. "Oh! W-well if you're not alone then I'll save my question for some other time. Hehehe!" Garroth says, laughing nervously. "The other thing I wanted to ask was, do you have a printer I could use?" He continues. "Yeah! Kawaii~Chan has one. Why do you need it?" Aphmau asks. "Our printer at home broke and I need to fill out papers for work." He answers. "Like I said, K.C has one in her room and, even though she's at work, she keeps her door open. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you use it!" Aphmau says. He smiles. "Great! Thanks again!" He says. Aphmau and Rosy lead Garroth up the stairs, making sure Vylad is nowhere in sight. Garroth walks into K.C's room and his eyes go wide at all the pink. "That's a lot of pink." He says. "Yeah, try to ignore it." Rosy says. "Okay, so there's the printer, there's the laptop, and the password to get on if ReeseSenpai1." Aphmau says. "Not a very good password, is it?" Garroth comments. The girls giggle and shake there heads no. "Just don't tell anyone about it, okay?" Rosy asks. Garroth nods his head. "Oh, can you excuse us for a second? We need to go check on something." Aphmau says, walking out. Rosy turns to leave but Garroth grabs her shoulder. "H-hey...m-maybe later you and I could grab some c-coffee or something?" He asks. "Sure! I'd love too! Let me just go help Aph." She says, walking out the door. Garroth silently squeals like a school girl. Rosy walks back into her room too see Zane on his phone. "Sorry for the wait, Zane!" She says. "I've been waiting. Now, are we going to continue this tea party or not?" Zane asks. "Uh...sure! Let me just- what was that?" Rosy stops when she hears a noise. She turns towards the door and stares at it. "That could've...maybe it...no it..." she mumbles to herself. "What was that what?" Zane asks. "You didn't hear it? Well, I'll be right back! I promise!" Rosy says, speed walking too the door. Zane sighs and pulls out his phone, fixing his tiara in the process. She see's Aphmau at the bottom of the stairs and runs up too her. "So Zane's still in my room and Garroth's printing something...GAH, this isn't good! They're both here and we don't even know where Vylad is!" Rosy says. "Maybe he's in the basement!" Aphmau says. Aphmau runs down the stairs, silently calling his name while Rosy searches the kitchen. "Vylad?" She calls. "I'm right here." A voice says. Rosy runs into the living room to see Vylad. "There you are! We were so worried about you!" She says. Aphmau comes running up the stairs, see's Vylad and walks up to him. "Where were you!?" She exclaims. "Well, I was originally hiding in the basement, but then I saw this...shrine thing and it creeped me out a bit." Vylad says. "Yeah...that's K.C's thing. We'll ask her to remove it since you'll be staying with us." Rosy says. "That would be highly appreciated." he says. The two giggle. "Okay, well if your not hiding in the basement then you NEED to hide somewhere else because Garroth and Zane are-" Rosy is cut off by a mad Zane marching down the stairs shouting. "ROSY! YOUR TAKING FOREVER! AT THIS RATE I'M GOING TO GO-....home? Vylad?" Zane's shouting ceases as he notices Vylad. Vylad nervously laughs and sheepishly waves. "Hey big brother..." He says slowly. "Surprise?" Rosy and Aphmau say in sync. "So this is what you were doing while I was upstairs playing with po-ah..uh..video games. So Vylad, what are you doing back in town? And most importantly, why didn't I know?" Zane asks. "Uhm...well...*sigh*" Vylad sighs. "Rosy, Aphmau, Kawaii~Chan's printer ran out of ink and- Vylad!?" Garroth says and he walks down the stairs. "Garroth!" Vylad shouts in joy. The two brothers hug. "It's so good to see you back in town! ZANE, DID YOU GIVE YOUR BABY BROTHER A HUG!?" Garroth shouts. "NO! I DON'T DO HUGS!" Zane yells. "ZANE. COME GIVE VYLAD A HUG!" Garroth shouts once again. "Come on Big Brother~ I'm waiting~" Vylad teases as he opens his arms. "Zane, did you hear that? He WANTS a hug!" Garroth says. "Only because you gave him the idea! Rosy, Aphmau, hug Vylad for me!" Zane says. "Oh! I got this! I've been working on my Zane impression! *Ahem*  I'M ZANE AND I EAT ALL OF ROSY'S CUPCAKES BECAUSE I'M A FAT NUGGET!" Rosy shouts in a deeper voice. Aphmau and Rosy begin to giggle. "Hey! Rosy!" Zane shouts. Garroth giggles. "Heheheh, that's pretty good...BUT IT HAS TO BE ZANE!" He shouts. "Hey guys, while I'd love a hug from Zane, there's something I need to tell you both." Vylad says. The two boys look at him. "I'm moving back into town and I'm going to be rooming with Rosy and Aphmau for a little bit." Vylad says. "WHAT!?" Zane and Garroth shout. "But Vylad, I INSIST you stay with me or Zane instead!" Garroth says. "Thanks but...this is something I want to do on my own." Vylad says. "Why are you moving back so suddenly? You know we're family, right? Even though I don't like to hug...I'd still help you." Zane says, making Rosy smile. "It's just that I would prefer to do this on my own. You guys have ALWAYS been there for me and moving back is hard for me to do. Especially since I said I wasn't going to come back to our home town when I left." Vylad says. "If you really feel like that then...Rosy, Aphmau, is this okay with you?" Garroth asks. "This is perfectly fine with me!" Rosy says. "Same here. Katelyn and K.C might say otherwise but they trust us. We're going to set Vylad us in the basement until he can get a new apartment." Aphmau says. "It should only be for a few days, I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to bother you."  Vylad says, looking down. Rosy and Aphmau coo over the politeness and cuteness. "Awww, it's okay Baby Brother!" Garroth says. "Fine, but if you need any help, you know where to find us." Zane says. "Zane, look at you being so brotherly like! NOW YOU HAVE TO HUG VYLAD! COME HERE!" Garroth shouts, running after Zane. "NO, YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!" "YES I CAN!" "GAH, GARROTH!" "IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE YOU'VE SEEN HIM!" "YOU KNOW HOW THIS TURNS OUT! I DON'T WANT A HUG!" "COME ON! COMME ONN!!" "STOP TRYING TO MAKE ME DO THIS! NO NO!" "DON'T RESIST IT!" "IT'S ALWAYS WEIRD IT'S NEVER NORMAL! GET AWAY FROM ME!" The two shout back and forth as they run around the house. The three giggle as they watch in amusement.
