Chapter 1-Slap And Run

Start from the beginning

Two hours later, after much arguing and debating with my parents, I ended up in the pack limo on my way to the Lombardi's. Besides Nelson, there were five other people going. Tom, who's this big, buff, bodyguard like guy; Nelsons sister Dianne; Lupe and Furpe, random kids in the pack who decided to tag along; and Carmen, my best friend who I bribed with designer shoes to come.

"Man, I hope those heels are worth it," Carmen whined, looking skeptically at the road. We were almost at the Lombardi's and I could tell she was starting to get nervous.

I chuckled. "Doesn't matter if they're not, Carm. It's too late to turn back now." I poked my tongue out at her.

"Now is not the time to be childish, Roxie." she scowled.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

Dianne turned around so that she was facing us and grinned. "What are you so nervous about, Carmen? Don't let those pale creatures intimidate you. We're werewolves and nothing can scare us." she winked.

Nelson rolled his eyes at his sister. "Remind me again why I brought you along?"

"Because you can't say no to me," Dianne responded smirking. "And because I would tell your mate how you were bad mouthing her the other day."

Nelson turned red. "I wasn't bad mouthing her!" he exclaimed. "I was speaking the truth, she can't cook!"

"See, that's bad mouthing her."

"Anyway," I interjected. "Carmens just being a baby. Everything intimidates her, Dianne." I teased.

Carmen pulled on my bangs.

"Ouch, what the heck, Carm!"

"Stop being mean!" she snapped.

And after that everyone began arguing in unison. Carmen telling me how this is no time for jokes, me telling her she was overreacting, Dianne and Nelson arguing about how Nelson was 'bad mouthing' his mate and then there was Lupe and Furpe chanting "we get to see vampires!"

"Enough, children, we're here!" Toms voice boomed. Everyone, including myself immediately shut up. That man was scary.

I looked out the window to see that we stopped at the gate in front of their gigantic mansion. The driver poked his head out the window and said something to the weird, old guard who glared at all of us, but opened the gate. We started moving again, and I resisted the urge to flip that stupid guard the finger for looking at me like that. Dang vampires, almost as bad as humans except they smell a little better.

I spent the entire three minutes it took to get to the house, drooling over the place. Our pack house was nice, but it was nothing compared to this place. It looked like one of the mansions out of an old greek movie, and it was beautiful. Very dull, but beautiful. All the trees out here provides the perfect shade, and blocks out the sun. The place looked so comfortable. Pretty nice, for vampires. Good thing they didn't live in one of those cliche dungeon type houses, that'd just be weird.

Once we came to a stop, we all sat there in silence. Carmen had a look on her face that told me she was frightened, Dianne had a look on her face that showed she was having second thoughts, the twins looked excited, Nelson looked bored and annoyed, and then there was Tom who had that same, blank, intimidating stare of his.

After a while the driver cleared his throat loudly, which earned a glare from Tom.

"Alright, are we going to sit here all day, or should we go and get this over with?" Nelson asked, the annoyance clear in his tone.

I rolled my eyes, and we all climbed out of the car. Carmen grabbed my hand, squeezing the life out of it when we got to their door. I gave her a reassuring smile, I was starting to feel bad for bringing her along, knowing she was very easily intimidated. I don't even get what's so scary about this situation. For god sakes we're wolves, it's not like we're defenceless or anything like that. If worst comes to worst we'll just have to rip their heads off. I think I could enjoy that.
