"Ahren!"
"Ahren, come back!"
"C'mon! It's not that bad!"
I wasn't as convinced as Eadlyn was, that this green guck would make me "pretty". Eadlyn wanted to help me and make me "beautiful" for a certain someone that I wanted to ask to the annual Christmas ball.
How Eadlyn figured it out? I didn't know, but she knew and she was determined to put us together. Which I was a teeny bit grateful for, but at the moment that little bit of gratefulness was buried deep down as she was chasing me with a bowl of, what looked like guacamole, in her hand.
I turned to look back and found myself only a foot away from her. I again curse her speed, as I do every time I try to get away from her sisterly clutches.
We were in a hallway on the second floor of the castle when she caught up to me and grabbed my arm, lurching me to a stop.
"Got you lil' bro!"
I glare at her,
"Seven minutes. We're seven frickin' minutes apart."
She sticks her tongue out at me and drags me back to her room.
She starts talking but I tune her out as I think of all the possible ways to convince her to not touch me with that green slop.
"...Ahren? Hellllllo? Ground Control to Major Tom!"
I look at her surprised, "Did you just-"
She cuts me off with a crooked eyebrow, as if to say yes, yes I just did.
"Anyways, Ahren- we need to get you dressed to impress. Let's go!"
In a swirl of jackets, waistcoats and other items of clothing, I was dressed in my best suit. It was white and had a green tie that, "brought out my eyes" Eadlyn claimed.
I look at her distrustfully.
"You sure this will work?"
"Positive. Just be yourself! Besides, I've seen the way he looks at you. There is no way he'd say no."
I nod and hold my head up high and almost immediately shrink back down in fright.
"What if I'm over-dressed? What if he's already got a date? What if-"
"Relax, we've gone over this. He told me himself he plans on going alone." Eadlyn cuts off my ramblings.
"Now go quickly! Before you change your mind again."
She pushes me out the door and slams it in my face.
I try the doorknob but find it locked.
"Damn."
I mutter as I turn back around and walk down the hall towards the ballroom.
It was still quite early, so it was expected that majority of the guests hadn't arrived yet, including my sister.
Still, this didn't stop me from eagerly looking around for his smile and his-god forbid-perfect features.
After looking for almost 15 minutes I had decided that he wasn't here yet, and it'd be best to just watch the door and wait.
A minute passes.
Two.
Five.
Fifteen.
Twen-
"Ahren! Ahren! Do meet my good friend's son Declin Prince of Maqui, Declin this is my son Ahren."
I was snapped out of my revere by my dad, I turned to face them and I couldn't but blush a little. The Prince of Maqui was, dare I say, handsome.
With his green tailcoat and black corduroy's he did look like a bit of an odd duck in a room of suits and ties, but my gracious he made it work.
"Hello, pleasure to meet you." He smiled to me.
I nodded my head, "the pleasure's all mine."
On the other side of the room, a bewildered and maybe even hurt look was sent Ahren and Declin's way by none other than the very boy Ahren had dressed to impress.
AN: I know it's been a while but trust me I have an explanation! Around three months ago I got two hits to the head which gave me a concussion and whiplash. This means no reading, no writing, no screens, no physical activity etc. It's not severe anymore and I'm well on my way to be 100% again. In other news, I got nominated to run for valedictorian today, (which means I got voted by my class mates to have my name on the ballot) so ya, I find out Monday if I was voted in or not. I'll try to update more frequently, but I can't make any promises with the crazy times coming ahead.
All the love,
DiscombobulatingBoom❤️
