Chapter 23
(Monday)
Over the weekend, nothing really happened. We won our first volleyball game of the season, celebrating after. Blake had come over to my house and slept over since we seemed to have issues falling asleep without each other. Everything seemed normal. Except for the fact that I can't shake the feeling that I'm forgetting something. Something that I should remember. Something that's important. But I just can't remember what.
I sighed, rolling over onto my back. I stared at the ceiling as I listened to the rain pound against my window. If only I could just remember...
I was pulled from my thoughts when Blake groaned, waking up.
"Morning angel," he said, his voice deep and raspy from sleep.
"Morning," I said, offering him a weak smile. He furrowed his eyebrows.
"What's wrong?"
"N-nothing," I lied. He frowned.
"Please don't lie, I can tell if you do. Angel, tell me what's wrong," he pleaded. I sighed, biting my lip.
"I feel like I'm forgetting something important... like it's somewhere in my brain, but something won't let me remember it, if that makes any sense. I've had this feeling ever since the ceremony," I admitted. Blake frowned, his face confused.
"Okay... I have no idea what could cause that, but I'll try and help you figure it out," he promised. I nodded my head before pecking his lips.
I rolled out of bed and walked into my bathroom, taking a quick shower and brushing my teeth. When I walked back into my room, Blake immediately hopped up and walked into the bathroom. Seconds later, I heard the shower running. I looked through my clothes before deciding on a pair of black leggings, a thin coral knit sweater with lace lining the bottom, and a pair of brown Steve Madden combat boots. I was applying my mascara and lipgloss when Blake walked out of the bathroom. He went into my closet, opening the drawer with some of his clothes in it. Since he's been staying over at my house so much, I just made room in one of my drawers for his clothes so that he wouldn't have to bring an overnight bag ever time. He came out in a pair of jeans and a charcoal grey short sleeve shirt. I got up and wrapped my arms around his waist from behind, resting my head on his back.
"Ready to go?" I asked. He turned around and smiled down at me before placing kisses all over my face, making me giggle.
"Yup," he said. We grabbed our bags and headed downstairs. Before leaving, I had to get my coffee, and luckily, there was already a pot of it made. We walked to his car while I sipped on the sweet coffee.
We pulled into the school parking lot and headed to everyone. When we got there, I noticed Blake's eyes glazed over, meaning someone was mind-linking him. When his eyes focused again, he growled.
"What's wrong?" I asked worriedly.
"Vampires have been on our territory," he growled, "Mason, let's get back to the pack and handle this." Mason nodded his head and stated towards Blake's car. "I'm sorry angel, I have to go. I'll see you after school," he said, his voice softer as he kissed me before leaving.
Math, world geo, language arts, gym, and Spanish had gone by uneventfully, and Drew had thankfully stayed away from me. All I could think about was Blake. Was he ok? What was happening? What was he doing? I was pulled out of my thoughts when I ran into someone, losing my balance and falling. But, before I could hit the cold floor, the person grabbed my waist, pulling me back up. I sighed in relief, that definitely would have hurt if I had fallen. When I looked up, my eyes widened. Drew. Wait... how had he been able to catch me that fast? That's not really possible for a human...
