"Me? Why me? What did I do?" It made no sense, why would he target me? He was a psychopath but that wasn't reason enough. I knew it wasn't. There was something deeper.

"I can't say anymore, I'm sorry, but it will be answered tomorrow when we get there. I promise."

Liam hurried out of the dinner carrying two paper brown bags. Bailey handed me my cup, which contained water, as he hopped in the car. "We will stop for the night," he immediately said, " but we will hit the road again early in the morning." He didn't say anything else after that not did He hand out the bags of food. He just drove a little bit more before making a stop at a little hotel called Adirondack Lodge Old Forge.

He parked and turned to both of us. "Grab one suitcase to look like we are real guest just passing through. Nothing more. We'll eat inside."

He left without another word but did shoot Bailey a look that meant something, what it was about, I had no idea. Since I couldn't really disagree right now, I did as he said. Bailey grabbed a bag out for me I didn't pack. "Here, you'll want this one. It'll have everything you need, not just random things packed."

"Thank you," I smiled gratefully to her. It was one thing I could smile about at least. She was such a great friend and I was lucky to have her.

She grabbed her own bag and shut the back door. "Well, we should get inside. It's kinda cold out here."

I shivered too as a big busy of cold wind blew past. It whipped my hair in my face and made me wish I had a sweater. I grabbed Coco and Bailey grabbed her food and bowl. I didn't even know if they allowed pets but I didn't care. I was not leaving her in the car.

We met Liam inside who already had keys in his hand. "It's your lucky day, they allow pets in here and they only had one room left. Everything everywhere is booked up. Now let's get settled in and eat."

We followed him to our room. When he opened the door I was hit with an old woodsy smell though not in a bad way. It smelled quite nice. It also had a woodsy feel because the walls were made of wood panels and so were the headboards and counters and chairs. Really anything that could be made of wood was wood. There were also wooden beams across the ceiling. This room really gave a cabin feel.

I shuffled in behind the others and sat my bag beside one of the two queen size beds and Coco on the bed. I might as well choose the bed I wanted if they dragged me here. There were two doors in this room. One that led outside toward the cabin with a pool in it and the other to the hallway where we came in. I choose the one closest to the door we came in.

Liam was already passing out our meal and I took it. I wasn't particularly hungry but I knew I should eat so I forced myself to eat. It was actually really good, I just wished I could have enjoyed it more instead of thinking about other things.

Liam turned on the tv a few minutes later and the news came up. I didn't care for any of it until something on there caught my attention.

"Early this morning  in North Carolina there was a car accident. A family of three were inside and the car exploded before paramedics showed up. There were no survivors. The victims include 48 year old David Wood, 45 year old Marian Wood, and 18 year old Skylar Wood. The family from Ohio looked to be on an trip when their car was struck by the killer SP. SP left his initials spray painted near the scene so we know it was not a random accident. Bless these victims. If you have any information on SP please come forward. Keep a lookout. The family has been brought back home and will be put to rest later this week."

Everything faded into the background and I went to this in between place. I had no idea where it was but right now, I did not want to escape. I felt like I was floating above the clouds and it was peaceful, I really could stay right here forever.
