Warriors; Into the Jungle (completed)

"Orangepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?"

Orangepaw nodded to Stormstar, "I do."

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Orangepaw, from this moment on, you shall be known as Orangeleaf. StarClan honors your belief in what is right, and we welcome you full warrior of JungleClan." Stormstar rested his muzzle on Orangeleaf's head, and the new warrior licked his shoulder in return. Then, he stood back next to his father as Skypaw stepped up.

She was nervous to be standing alone, but her excitement overpowered her nerves.

Stormstar beckoned her forward, "Skypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do!"

Stormstar continued, "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name."

He paused, as if thinking, "Skypaw, from this moment on, you shall be known as Skylight. StarClan honors your bravery and readiness to defend, and we welcome you a full warrior of JungleClan."

Stormstar rested his muzzle on her head as she licked his shoulder.

"This meeting is over!"

"Rainpaw, Featherpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" Rabbitstar spoke the traditional words.

Rainpaw's tail twitched involuntarily as she mewed, "I do," with Featherpaw.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior names. Rainpaw, from this moment on, you shall be known as Rainstorm. StarClan honors your bravery and speed and we welcome you a full warrior if EagleClan!"

Rabbitstar rested her muzzle on Rainstorm's head, and Rainstorm licked her shoulder in return. Then, she stepped back with Sunflight.

"Featherpaw, from this moment on, you shall be known as Featherfrost. StarClan honors your strength and intelligence, and we welcome you a full warrior of EagleClan!"

Again, Rabbitstar rested her head on Featherfrost's, and the new warrior licked her shoulder in return.

Rabbitstar looked up at the midday sun, "When the sun goes down, you must sit vigil."

Rainstorm nodded happily while Featherfrost looked up with shining eyes.

Skylight nudged Orangeleaf awake. Again.

He is so bad at staying awake, she thought.

Orangeleaf's eyes snapped open. Skylight knew the silent vigil was the only thing keeping her from getting a scolding, though Orangeleaf's eyes said it all; Stop!

Skylight rolled her eyes. This was about the sixth time they've had this conversation. After a while, Orangeleaf would go back to sleep, and Skylight would wake him up again. Then, he would glare at her, and she would shrug it off, and the cycle goes on.

Featherfrost felt her eyes droop. After the terrifying experience with the hawk, and the encounter with Snowcloud, she was exhausted.

She could see that Rainstorm was in the same state, drooping eyes, sagged shoulders, hanging head. One might think she was asleep on her paws.

Suddenly, a beam of bright light came over the horizon. A beam of sunlight raced across the sky, then disappeared where the sun sets.

When the beam of light disappeared, the clan started emerging from their dens. The sun followed the beam and the mountains were bathed in light.

Darkleap chose Dawnfeather, Lightcall, Goosestripe, and Stonefrost to go on the dawn patrol with Brokentalon leading. The black she-cat nodded in acknowledgement and gathered her patrol together with a sweep of her tail.

"It's okay, you two. You can talk." Darkleap's voice jolted Featherfrost out if her thoughts.

Featherfrost dipped her head to Darkleap, "Thank you."
