Jacob POV

"You did what?"

"Yes, I went there to my old house!"

"You can't! Why did you do that?"

"I wasn't intentionally going there! I found a street name, it was familiar so I followed it! I only got my stuff."

"You only broke an intervention order! Highly illegal!"

"Thanks for keeping me in the loop about it!"

"We protected you! We didn't think you would go blow it by doing that!"

"Well I thank you for protecting me. I appreciate it, but I needed my stuff, I needed some things from my old life back. I needed to see the house I was raised in, to see if it existed anymore. To see if I had a family, my mother, my sister. I needed my father to be apart of my new life. I needed him, I need to find him. I never wanted to stop. Never, not since the very day he left. I don't want to stop now. You just don't know how that feels. To be lost, and find hope with in hope. And you build it up, slowly brick by brick?"

Annie was kneeling on the ground now crying, but I stayed where I sat against the stair case. My dad had to be told. He wasn't the least bit happy. No, not at all.

"We can get rid of her. Put her up for adoption, she can be a foster child. Just make her leave this house. I do not want my daughter to learn bad habits off her."

"May, no! It was my decision to bring her home. Yet I still stand by it. She is not going any where!"

He paused then looked at me then back down to where Annie sat. He kneeled down so he was almost at her level.

"Annie, what you did was wrong. Illegal in fact, yes I should have told you the rules and regulations. But I didn't think you would go back there, honestly."

She just sat there crying, I didn't blame her. She was really upset about this all. I walked over to her and sat behind her then pulled her into my lap.

"Shh... Stop crying."

"Jacob she isn't a baby!"

My mother screamed at me, so I shouted back.

"No, but she is nothing like you. She needs help and love!"

I looked up at my dad.

"Pa, she made one mistake. She didn't know, just like you said no one knew. Don't punish her for wanting to remember. To feel.... Alive."

I looked back down at Annie, she lay with her head on my chest. She had stopped crying but was still upset. An egg about to be cracked.

"Jacob?"

I looked down at her, and she kissed my chest. Even though I had clothes on I knew what she meant, what she was doing.

"I'm taking her up stairs ok, pa?"

Dad nodded at me, so I stood up with Annie in my arms. I carried her up stairs and once she got to my room she jumped down.

"I'm sorry, Jacob you know that? Right?"

I looked at her.

"I know."

She looked at me, then grabbed my hands.

"I left you a note this time. You didn't get worried did you?"

"I'm always worried about you. Even when I sleep.... But thanks for the note."

I lifted her up into my arms and hugged her, she wrapped her legs around my waist and held on.

"I know I say it a lot Jacob. But when I tell you I love you. I mean it."

She rested her head against my chest.

"I know baby. Each time I call you sexy. You know I mean that?"

She laughed at that and so did I. I put her down and kissed her, she was wild and hungry all in one, yet keeping the love between us. She pulled away first. I cupped her face with my hand.

"Show me what you brought home baby."

I grabbed her hand and walked over to the bags. Where we sat down and opened up the first bag.
