Hercules

"But what if the five ounce bird was a female?"

"Then it would be able to destroy a man's will to live. Why, John?"

"Alex, you know that's not the I meant!"

"Well, I'm still right!"

Cato looked over at the two dents arguing while I tried to think rationally. Maybe I shouldn't wring someone's neck. I'm 90% sure (Y/N) would find out. And besides, I don't think I should wring the groom's neck. That'd just be rude.

Aaron's a smart guy. Thinking politically, I'd marry (Y/N) on the spot too. He was going to war in a matter of weeks and still hadn't met anyone in particular. He was desperate, but he was thorough.

He let himself fall for someone with class (even though whatever class (Y/N) has is bullshit) quickly, so marriage wouldn't be out if the question. Still, I don't think like that. I never think like that. Look at my relationship.

We just like each other. That's it.

It's not like Lizzy's father thinks I'm all that and a bag of peanuts.

I'm not thirsty for his approval. I may be sure he'll give his blessing after I make a name for myself here, but I couldn't care less. The point is why I'm like this.

I don't think of Lizzy as a tool because she's not.

(Y/N) isn't a tool (she's damn well a chore), so I expect Burr not to use her like one. I knew he was a smart man, but I didn't think he'd go this far.

"Don't pull that card. You know it's not fair! You're not married yet!"

I read more of the letter instead of reading the heading over and over again.

"Well, I'm certainly glad to still be a bachelor."

The more I read, the more confused I get. Apparently, Burr went on military leave to talk with my parents in Buffalo for their blessing. I'm not surprised they actually gave it, but he could have done this ages ago. Those two met in March, and they were all over each other by then too.

I guess the wedding is going to be in the summer of '77. I don't even want to think about planning for that.

I know I just went from murderer to confused to agitated. I should be beaming with joy over this, but I'm just... not. Does (Y/N) actually know what she's doing?

"Savor the time while you still can!"

I hand Cato the letter. He looked extremely confused as to why I'm just gawking at a piece of paper. At least he's gawking at the paper now. I knew he'd probably react differently than me, so I just stared at the ground. It was ten times more interesting than the conversation playing in the background.

"I think I know a thing or two with the ladies being a free man."

As I was saying, this rock looks like it has some quartz in it. Neat. However, Cato didn't look too mad or excited about the letter.

That's a face I couldn't read. Whatever it was, he covered it up with a smile.

"This is great news."

He handed the letter back over to me after reading through the entire thing.

"Maybe Williams knew about this?"

Cato shrugged. "Most likely."

"Let's go in the garden."

I pulled the strings lightly on my guitar as I sang.

I learned a deal about the fine arts when I still lived in Europe. I wanted to be a poet so badly. I knew I could make a great living out it. As much as I wanted to make this decision for myself, I was far too young at the time to do it. Though I still love writing and reading, it's only a mere hobby now.
