ForthBeam - What is this??

I woke up in his arms. I was getting ready to bite his head off when I realized I was the one who crossed the imaginary threshold. He was lying in the same spot he'd been when I fell asleep.

I wriggled out of his embrace and made my way to the bathroom. I don't know how that happened, but it must be because of my fever. I brushed my teeth and took a shower before stepping out.

He wasn't in the room. I checked the balcony, he wasn't there. I checked my phone, no messages. Did he leave without saying anything? Somehow my heart ached.

I paced, wondering if it was something I did. I couldn't think of anything. I lay on my bed, thinking about it and wondering why it affected me so much. I was jolted out of my daze when my door opened. Forth walked in, he'd changed his clothes.

"Where did you go?" I heaved a quiet sigh before sitting up.

"To get breakfast."

"Just that?" I looked him up and down.

"I stopped at my dorm also, to freshen up."

"You could have done that here, but why did you leave without saying anything?"

"I left a note. Didn't you see it?" He placed the food he'd bought on the table.

"I did not. Where did you put it?" I looked around, wondering if I'd missed it.

"Right here." He picked it up off the table, where he'd just placed the food.

"How was I supposed to find it? You should have placed it on the fridge or something."

"What's this? Did you miss me?" I frowned at him.

"Fuck no. Don't be full of yourself." He laughed, like he didn't believe I didn't miss him. Fuck him.

"How are you feeling?" He walked over and placed his hand on my forehead. I pushed it away before answering.

"I'm okay."

"You're not as hot but your temperature is still a little high. Good thing it's the weekend, right?" He sat on my bed, next to me.

"Don't you have anything going on this weekend? You can leave. I'll take care of myself."

"I do have something to do and that is taking care of you."

"I don't need you to."

"I'm doing it because I want to, and you didn't take care of yourself yesterday, so I don't trust you to do so today." He stood up after saying that and served breakfast. We ate in comfortable silence.

He stayed all weekend. The only time he left was when he thought I needed to be fed. I hardly lifted a finger and I didn't spare much thought for my best friend's love lives.

I went to class Monday with a wide smile. I greeted my friends cheerfully as I sat at my desk.

"Ai'Beam, you need to slow down." Is how Ai'Kit responded to my greeting

"What are you talking about?" I asked without losing my happy smile.

"You look like you got laid again."

"No, I didn't. What gave you that thought?" I looked up at Kit with a questioning gaze.

"Your face." He gestured at my face. "See how you're smiling. Are you feeling better now?"

"Yes, I'm doing just fine as you can see." Now he cares about me? Pshh.

"So, did Forth stay with you all weekend?"

"Yep. You guys were too busy being in love or whatever so..."

"You were doing the same thing though." I smacked Kitty on the shoulder for saying that.

"No, I wasn't. I told you already, Forth and I are not dating. He was only helping me out." I don't know why I have to keep repeating myself to these assholes.

"He hasn't exactly been secretive about wanting to date you so, if you won't date him, don't give him hope."

"Why are you guys interested in what I do or don't do with Ai'Forth?"

"Because we want what's best for you. What other reason would we have?" I scuffed at the innocent faces they feined.

"You guys should concern yourselves with your own love and leave me alone." I sat at my desk and got ready for class.
