The first person to walk in was someone I didn’t recognize. His hair was a nice, milk chocolate brown and was messy in a really cute way. I censored my survey of him and did not go beyond his sharp, aristocratic features, and his soft brown-black eyes.

Next to step in was a man of about the same height as the first. This time though, his features were slightly different. He looked kind, but capable of anything. His hair was much in the same fashion as the fore-mentioned, but slightly longer. His eyes were nearly pure black, only a tint of brown remained. My guess was that these first two were brothers. I could be wrong.

There was a swift intake of breath to the right of me and I looked up at Ariella. There she stood, but she looked really…. REALLY happy. Like the best thing in the world had just happened to her. She was staring at one of the men so I followed her gaze to the second man that entered the room

“Umm…. I’m missing something aren’t I?” I said, apparently louder than I thought because everyone in the room looked at me. “Hi?” I said sheepishly and squirmed a little bit when they did nothing but continue to stare at me with death gazes.

Someone in a dark corner of the room cleared their throat as if amused and stepped out. “Only… a lot actually.” I glared at him. Who would have guessed it was Sebastian? I could not pull my mind from the situation though. Two men I did not know were staring at me like I was the anti-Christ and Sebastian was waiting for me to be fried like bacon. Hey, life is going great, huh?

“How did you….?” The thought suddenly crossed my mind and I could not contain it before it came out of my mouth. He smirked and gestured towards the door. “Yeah but, I didn’t even see you come in.”

“That’s because you couldn’t have.” His voice and posture were smug, as if he’d won a game. Fine, if he wanted to play that way, then he’s in for it. I opened my mouth to say something but was interrupted by the second man to enter the room.

“That is quite enough. We have things to discuss and I want to get to it, I have many matters to deal with and I will not waste my time with childish competition.” He scolded and everyone looked to him. “I, am Hunter. This, “-He made a gesture towards the man with milk chocolate hair-“is my brother Trace. We are not real brothers, but are close enough to be considered so. What is your name?” He looked to me. I shifted my weight a little, a nervous action, and raised my chin in confidence once more.

“My name…” I trailed off. First, I glanced at Ariella, and then made a quick glare at Sebastian. I was really going to regret having lied to Ariella. Sebastian, on the other hand, I could care less about. I then looked Hunter straight in the eye with defiance and made myself appear confident in the midst of all confusion. “My name is Seilauna.”

“But…but earlier you said your name was Solange! I don’t understand.” Ariella exclaimed, her voice at first was shocked but then it became hurt. I turned my face to her, not able to help the guilty expression that crossed my face. When I saw her eyes though, it was like seeing the most horribly sad thing in the world and I felt like hugging her and apologizing a thousand times. Hunter was suddenly by her side, holding her hand. It puzzled me how hurt she got from just that small lie. All I had done was lie about my name and she fell to pieces. Questioning it might be pushing it, I decided.

“I lied because I figured I could get out of here and never see you again! If you looked me up by Rinata you also wouldn’t be able to find me so I figured I could use that and haul-ass out of this place. I guess not.” I scratched my head. This situation was getting a little weird for me. I began to apologize but Trace walked up to me and offered his hand to help me up. Without thinking of it I took his offer and stood.

“Maybe it’s a little too soon for her. She has not even been a vampire for an hour and already we are beginning interrogations- which haven’t gotten far, mind you- but they were planned to get pretty complex. I’ll show her to her room and may I suggest giving the girl a little time?” Trace smooth-talked his way to Hunter, but the latter just nodded in agreement. Trace bowed at the waist in a gentleman-like manner and gestured towards the door. I sent him a smile, as unsure as it may have been he nodded in thanks and smiled back. As soon as he shut the door I let out the breath I hadn’t known I was holding.

Trace laughed a deep laugh at me and I shivered at it. He had a beautiful sound and I cracked a smile. “It’s ok, Hunter’s just pissy because we didn’t get much today. If it makes you feel any better I’ll make sure Hunter doesn’t go too tough on you on your first week.” He punched me softly in the arm.

“Thanks. I think I’m gonna need it.” I said and looked down the long hall in front of us.

“Ah yes, your room. Right. Now, why would I want to show you that?” He said playfully and I gave him a sly smirk.

“Because if you don’t, when I get all my cool vampy powers I’ll use them on you and give you the beat down of your life!” I challenged, smiling temptingly.

“Really? If you ask me it sounds kind of fun. Hey, I’ll race ya!” He said, his entire being full of excitement. Suddenly he was gone and I panicked.

“Wait! Trace! I don’t even know where I’m going!” I screamed. The only answer I received was my echo from the high ceilings and long expanse of the hall. Amazing. I go from flirting with a vampire I don’t even know for like… two seconds to being left alone in a hall with a hundred or more doors. Plus that hallway just happens to be home to vampires- which I don’t even know how many. I’ll find my way…..eventually.
