"I'm fine," I told him. "I like spending time with you." His fingers began to run through my hair and despite the denial of my tiredness, I knew that I would have to go back in soon. I shifted a bit so I could lean against him and he rested his head on top of mine.

"Isn't your friend in there? You should get some rest." His voice really was soft when he tried. This time, I decided he was right and I nodded slowly.

"C'mon, let's get you back inside." He said quietly, helping me stand. "Don't worry, I won't let you fall. I'll protect you." The words so easily surpassed any logical thought with how tired I'd become. I let him hold onto me tightly as I climbed back into the window.

He was about to leave before I stopped him.

"I forgot about the sweatshirt -"

"Just keep it for now." He smiled once more and with that, he was down the ladder and gone.

When I woke in the morning, Melanie was already awake and sitting on my floor. I sat up, remembering the night before and smiling as I felt the fabric of his sweatshirt. Once I stood up, it nearly went down to mid-thigh on me, the sleeves rolling at least six inches away from my fingertips.

"Who's is that?" Mel frowned at me.

"Long story." I told her. She understood and after I carefully took the sweatshirt off, I folded it on my bed and ran downstairs with Mel for breakfast.

Seeing Anna with Nate this morning was almost like a slap in the face. She glared at me the entire time from when we came downstairs to when I finally sat at the table.

"Do you have a problem?" I asked her, seeing the small smile form on Nate's lips.

"Yes, actually, I do." She snapped. "It's convenient really, Nate disappears for a while and when your brother checks on you, you're gone too."

"And?" I scoffed. "You're really good at making a big deal out of nothing."

"You're damn lucky I don't tell Ethan anything. He'd be so mad." She acted as if I'd done something wrong.

"I was on the roof by myself -"

"But you just remember damn well who has him right now, whose bed he sleeps in -"

"Anna, she's fifteen." Nate stood up and slammed his hands down on the table, making all three of us look up at him. "Are you insane? Get out."

"Nate," she began. "You can't expect me to just ignore this. This isn't fair to me -"

"What's unfair is that you're accusing a fifteen-year-old of shit that hasn't and will never happen. She's literally a child and you're -" I scooted the chair back quickly, the loud sound stopping him mid-sentence. I caught his line of sight once, looking for anything.

Once I couldn't find anything, I ran back up the stairs and closed the door behind me, pacing around the room quickly. I tried to pretend to not be hurt by his words but it was next to impossible at this point. Did he really think I was a child?

The door opened and at this point, tears had already welled in my eyes. Thankfully, it was Mel that was walking over to me. She had me sit down on my bed and she looked at me seriously.

"That's his, isn't it?" She glanced at the red fabric carefully placed on my bed and I nodded slowly.

"Nothing happened, really, but I just thought..." I sighed. "I knew I was being ridiculous."

The knock at the door threw me off. Mel and I both watched as Nate entered the room. Mel left without another word, allowing us to 'talk' or whatever was about to happen. I didn't want to see him. I didn't want to be in the same room as him.

"Listen, I know I shouldn't have -"

"I don't want to talk to you." I shook my head.

"Then don't talk, just listen to me." He waited until I nodded to continue. "I don't think you're a child or childish, I really don't." He shook his head. "But what was I supposed to tell her? That I was just sitting on a roof with you for almost three hours?"

"Why not? What's wrong with that, Nate?" I shot back. "I don't see a problem."

"Because there isn't one, but you know how she is. She makes problems out of everything -"

"Then why are you still with her? If she makes you so miserable, what are you doing with her? I'm sure if she made you so mad, you wouldn't be sleeping in her bed." I turned away from him and crossed my arms over my chest, avoiding looking at him at all costs.

"It's not that easy, Bella, and I don't even know why I'm explaining myself to you! It's none of your business who's bed I sleep in." He was right to an extent. I just shook my head slowly.

"Get out before Ethan hears you." I cleared my throat. "I don't want to talk to you." I walked to my bed and grabbed his sweatshirt and shoved it at his chest. "Maybe give that to your girlfriend."

"Are you really going to do this right now?"

"Am I gonna do this right now? Really, Nate? What exactly am I doing? Do you want to hear me say that I'm jealous or something? Because those words will never leave my mouth. Leave." I watched as he allowed himself to be defeated. He just let out a deep breath, shook his head, and left.
