|3|Please, wake up
It seemed as though it had been a lifetime since anyone had seen the commander and in a sense, it had been. While others would rejoice at seeing a familiar name or face, time was unforgiving. Life wasn't fair nor were the hands of time. Nobody had ever asked to be thrown into the fire. Not once. As the words of the black and red paladins settled into the minds of the oblivious alteans, their minds attempting comprehend what had happened as the absolute silence of the castle ship enveloped the team. In the silence, a soft and nearly unidentified sound surfaced and reached the ears of team voltron.
A soft snore.
It was hardly audible, even in the absolute silence, the paladins holding their breath as they listened for another breath. And as expected, there was. It was a soft snoring that had alerted the beings that it was coming from the pod as the absolute joy of the human being alive began to fill their faces as the green paladin began to set to work at getting the pod open.
"C'mon.... c'mon.... work you stupid thing! Give me back our friend dammit."
The others waited in anticipation as the sound of typing became the only sound within the blue lion's hanger. Time seemed to slow down as the clicking of keys slowly began to become nothing more than a small white noise in the background. Nobody had dared to leave the hanger in the time it had taken the green paladin to open the pod. The only sounds being made were that of the computer Pidge had stationed herself at.
Nobody had moved from their spots as they waited, time seeming to slow down into a soft stream of sand as seconds turned to minutes and minutes seemed to turn to hours. Finally, the loud hiss of cold air hitting warmth suddenly resonated through the castle ship as the pod slowly began to slide open.
Nobody moved a muscle as the pod began to open, the sounds of someone gasping as they stood from the pod and walked forward, their hand clutching at their helmet as they tried to despratly remove the article of armor. The being clearly female from the form fitting suit. Soon, the the paladins and alteans began to realize what the being was attempting to do as she began to wobble and loose balance, her ragged breathing becoming louder and louder as she began to panic.
Keith and Lance were the first of the group to snap out of their daze as they both raced forward and caught the female as she struggled to stay upright, Lance holding her up as Keith clicked the button on her helmet to release her from the helmet as she gasped loudly, dry coughs escaping her body as her hair fell over her face, shielding her features as she coughed into their hand, the other holding onto Lance's shoulder as they stood hunched over to support her weight. At last the female had stopped coughing as she wheezed before she pushed the long mass of hair from her face and behind her head as she stood up straight to look at the worried humans and alteans. Their voice hoarse as they spoke.
"Th-thank you..... It's much appre.... appreciated."
The female whispered before she began to wobble again and fell into Keith's arms as she passed out. The red paladin looking to the others in sheer panic as he looked at the others for help. "What do I do!?" He screeched as he held the taller woman up in panic, Shiro coming to his aid as he took the female from his arms. "We need to get her to the medical bay and fast. There's no time to waste. Pidge, start getting a pod ready so we can put the commander in, then we can find out what's wrong with her and fix her. Keith, I need you to help me get her to the pods. Allura, Coran, please come with us so we can figure out what's causing her to faint and how much her time in space effected her systems. Go go go!" Shiro ordered as he took one of her arms and Keith grabbed the other due to the female being abnormally tall, towering over even Shiro, they ran down the halls with everyone hot on their tails with the inert woman in their arms. Lance and Hunk helping Pidge as she tried to run and type as she began opening doors on their way, her laptop on overdrive before she was lifted up by the gentle giant himself as he set her on his shoulders so she could type. Lance running behind the two to make sure she didn't fall and get put in a pod herself.
"Done! Pod's open, we're good to go!" Pidge informed as a healing pod sprung up from the ground the moment she finished talking, Keith and Shiro immediately rushing her to the healing vessel as they gently set the commander into the pod. The glass sliding shut as a hologram appeared next to the pod on a control panel nearby, the data flickering onto the screen once the pod had finished scanning the female and checking her vitals. Everything seemed fine before the beeping of the hologram began to flash across the screen. Multiple red lights flashing across the diagram of her body as it began to highlight her head, chest and abdomen. Her eyes seemed to be nearly blind, her heart hardly beating and multiple of her vital organs damaged along with broken bones in her ribs and spine. The commander's body already beginning to shut down on itself as she stood in the pod, her face contorted into an expression of pain as her hair shielded the rest of her face. "This isn't good." Coran muttered as he looked over at princess Allura.
"Oh no....." Allura muttered once she saw the problem as she walked over to the male to peered over his shoulder at the readings before she looked at the paladins, her hand on Coran's shoulder as she gave them a grim expression. "Paladins....?" She called out to the anxious beings as they all crowded around the pod before their attention was brought to the princess.
"I'm afraid that your friend may not survive the night..... There's-. She does not possess a strong enough heart to support her body's blood flow and she has several broken bones in her ribs and spine. I'm so sorry but unless she can hang on until we reach a planet to heal her, we may not be able to save her."
"She will die in the span of twenty-four hours."
