"Well, now that you're already here, you may as well drink while you can." Sam shrugged. "Don't get hurt. Don't talk to any boys. Just...don't. I don't want to have to explain anything to Ethan."

"Ugh, boys." I grumbled, remembering Nate.

"Woah there," Sam smiled. "You've finally got your eye out for someone?"

"Oh...uh...kind of."

"Who?"

"Nobody you would know." I said way too quickly.

"That makes me think I do know him." Sam raised his eyebrow and I groaned, setting my cup down.

"Maybe you do, maybe you don't, but I'm not telling you." I shrugged.

"You don't have to tell me who, what's going on though? Maybe I can give you advice. From a guy's perspective. Freshly graduated." He seemed more than proud of himself, and with good reason, I guess. From what I heard, he was a great student.

"It's a really long story." I said, grabbing one of the unopened beers on the counter and opening it. The taste was foreign and I didn't like it at all. He must've noticed because he laughed at me.

"If you don't like it, don't drink it, that's not healthy." He scolded. "And I've literally got all the time in the world. Talk to me."

"You really want to sit here and listen to my life struggles?" I tilted my head and couldn't help but pout a little. He smiled at me and nodded.

"Shoot." He told me.

So I told him all I could without telling him that the guy I was talking about was his good friend Nate. I told him about the first kiss a year ago and then what happened two weeks ago. I tried not to change too many details, but I had to leave out the part about the roof and that the first kiss happened during the bonfire.

"So, wait," he held his hand up before he continued. "After he kissed you, he told you he didn't like you?" His eyes were wide as he asked the question and I laughed at him.

"That's right, but then two weeks ago he literally told me he loved me." I told him, running my fingers through my hair.

"That's just mean," Sam scoffed. "How old is this guy? He seems too...I don't know, mean, to be a sixteen year old boy."

"What do you mean?" I nearly squeaked out my answer. "He's my age, I swear." I wasn't very good at hiding things.

"Oh my God, Bella, how old is he?" Sam looked scandalized, his eyes wide.

"He's eighteen, okay?" I rolled my eyes. "He's not that old."

"You just - I thought - I'm a mess." He seemed to be calming down. "Anyway, you say you know where this guy lives, right? Go see him. There's nothing stopping you from going there." He checked his watch. "It's only 10:46." He nodded.

"I can't just show up at his house, Sam." I laughed. "He'd make me leave."

"And then you'll know how he feels about you." Sam shrugged. "Guys are dumb sometimes, it's hard for us to express our emotions, something to do with masculinity I guess - but if he really likes you, he'll let you in."

I ended up in front of apartment 12C, staring at the gold letters that gleamed in the faint light of the walkway. I was almost mesmerized by them as I waited, before realizing that I hadn't knocked in the first place.

So I did, I knocked on the door, the buzz of the alcohol making me highly impatient as I waited. A tired Nate opened the door, I had probably woken him up. He was suddenly wide awake when he saw me.
