Step Eight
Ever since the attack my parents had been extra cautious when it came to my safety. Each time I went outside of the house I had to have my brother by my side. That wasn't a big difference, though, it was our usual routine anyway. The disadvantage of having no friends, but it was okay, I loved my brother. He'd always be my best friend, especially when it came to training. That was the big game changer that wasn't a rule before. Since I was the runt of the family and a weak wolf, my parents were always worried about me. I was their baby, so I never had to do training, especially since my dad, the Alpha, forbid me to train. Instead, for the past few years I watched young wolves train from my balcony. I was jealous, yes, but I was also a little relived. I didn't like violence, plus it gave me more time to focus on school and reading. I wasn't like most wolves and I was the opposite from the male wolves. They were all out going, some more than others when it came to their bodies. No one could resist them either since werewolves are extremely attractive people. Since I was still a werewolf, after all, I will admit that I was pretty, but I was a runt in the looks department. I was a runt in basically every wolf department there is, except intelligence. That was a department I was more of an Alpha in. I guess I had to be an Alpha in at least one department or I'd be a disgrace to the Alpha blood. That made me unique, though, a uniqueness my dad viewed as being fragile. Which was true, I was a fragile person, but my intelligence could help me in many ways. That was something werewolves didn't understand, but that was okay, they didn't need to understand me.
"Hey Ally, are you ready for training?" A familiar voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I was on my balcony watching the training go on below, but I turned my gaze to Tobin, who was standing in the doorway. Memories of what happened last night with Brute popped into my head and guilt automatically washed over me. I guess Tobin and I were technically together now and I just cheated on him. I wouldn't get hated on since I cheated on him with my mate, but the guilt still would always eat at me.
"How bad do you think I'll suck?" I asked, giving him a small smile. Along with guilt, nervousness was running through my body. Like I said before, I was banned from training so this would be my first time training. I was scared that I would be a horrible fighter and be even more of a disgrace to my family. I didn't want to make a fool out of myself and my family. I did say before that I was a decent fighter, which was true, but I still majorly sucked. I only knew I was okay because I used to train in secret with Lucas, but it had been awhile because he'd been busy with Alpha training. I just hope the things I did learn with him didn't leave me.
"You'll be perfect." Tobin assured me, taking my hands in his. They were soft and warm, which was the opposite of Brute's. His were cold and rough, but they brought a sense of comfort to me anyway. I shouldn't be comparing Tobin to Brute, though, that wasn't fair to Tobin. In reality, Tobin could never beat my mate, no matter how much better he was.
"Thank you, Tobin." I smiled up at him. He smiled back down at me and planted a soft kiss on my lips. His lips were nice against mine, causing me to let out a sigh. This was simple, something that was perfect for my personality. The only problem was being able to keep this going without any mates interrupting us.
He pulled away after a few seconds and then led me downstairs and outside. I scanned the area before me where young wolves practiced against their elders. A week ago this was a place of an attack, but my dad made sure it got cleaned up right away so we wouldn't be reminded of what happened with all the blood still on the ground. Sure enough, there was surprisingly no traces of blood, along with the bracelet Tobin had given me.
"Ally, over here!" My brother called. He was off to the side and talking to the head person of training, Brian Martin. Tobin and I walked over to them in time to hear the last part of their conversation.
