Step Fifteen
Word was quick to get around when Brute was on the move again. He was pissed off, that was clear. He managed to basically make his way across the country to Texas where the Red Fire pack lived. The Red Fire pack was the strongest pack in the United States, especially because of how strong their Alpha, Gage Preston, was. The only problem was that Alpha Preston was away with his mate, leaving his daughter and Beta in charge. That ended up being a bad idea, clearly, because Brute took that as a chance to attack the pack. Alpha Preston was trying his hardest to get back, but he was all the way in England. No one also wanted to help the Red Fire pack because of how strong the rogues were. That left Paige Preston alone with her pack to try to fight off Brute and his followers. They were actually doing pretty good compared to most packs. Paige managed to lock everyone up in their pack house without letting Brute get in. I was impressed, but even I knew that she wouldn't be able to keep that up. Brute was far too powerful and pissed off for her to handle. No one could handle him, except for me. I had to get there in time to save Paige and her pack. That's why I was currently trying to break out of the house.
"Where are you going?" A voice asked from behind me. I didn't jump this time and instead I turned around, giving my brother a pointed look. He knew perfectly well what I was trying to do. Knowing Brute was out there and killing again, I was going insane. Just not being with him was killing me from the inside out. I was getting weaker and weaker, I had no doubt Brute was the same. He wasn't weakening as much as I was, but Paige still being alive was proof enough that he at least was a little.
"Someone has to stop him." I shrugged. I was the only one that could stop him. My hand itched to fling the door open and run all the way to Texas. I was only a few feet away from the door. If I ran now, there was a chance I could get out before Lucas could stop me.
"Fine, but I'm coming with you." Lucas said. At first I thought he told me no and I heard him wrong, but then I realized he was really letting me go. I ran up to him and threw my arms around him, attacking him with a hug. I wasn't sure if he knew how much that meant to me. I knew he wasn't approving of my mate, but he knew that we both needed each other.
"Come on, if we leave now and use our wolf speed, we can get there this evening." I told him, tugging him along. It was 4 o'clock in the morning, but I knew we could at least get there by that evening. I just hoped we'd get there in time before Brute killed everyone.
"Ally, you do know our Beta has a private airport, right?" Lucas reminded me. From the money our Beta got as being second in command and the butt load of money he inherited, he was rich enough to afford a private airport. I truthfully forgot about that since it had been so long since I had been to the airport.
"Regardless, we have to leave now." I shrugged, still trying to pull him along. He let out a sigh and followed me out the door, silently shutting it behind him. We ran to the cover of the trees and we stripped our clothes before shifting. We picked up our clothes in our mouths and we took off. Because of my new found strength and power, I was able to keep up with Lucas with no problems. Not only that, my night vision was also enhanced so I managed not to trip over anything. With those two new abilities, we made it to the airport in no time. Before we exited the cover of the trees, we shifted and slipped our clothes back on. We ran straight for the Beta's house that rested at the edge of the airport. We came to a halt on his porch and Lucas pounded on the door. A few minutes passed by but Beta Richards finally opened the door. Since it was so early, he was still in pajama bottoms and his hair was ruffled, showing he had just rolled out of bed.
"We need a plane, or a jet, or whatever." I told him before he could open his mouth. His eyes shot to mine and I could see his face pale a little.
