One's death can mean the other's rescue

Lily's p.o.v

I had wanted to do some things for myself after I had woken up from my immense pain, but Will didn't let me. He told me to rest, so here I was, stuck to a bed for almost five hours already. I was getting bored and I really wanted to go outside to let Emery have a run. She had been in pain and she needed to stretch her paws, but Kaiden just didn't let her.

A snowflake stuck to the window. It was getting colder every day and it would be Christmas soon. She thought that maybe she could celebrate with her brother, who recently turned up, but he vanished. Sophie and Fione had returned safely and when they told us where they came from, Will sent his best warriors to look for Fred, but by the time they arrived, the building was empty. No trace of any living creature. That depressed me so much, my brother, gone, again. Why did all of this happen to my family. Why couldn't we be an all Amerian family, no wolves, no lynxes, no gods, just human.

A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. Before I could tell whoever knocked to go away, Sophie entered. She stared at me for a second, not sure whether she would tell me somethin or not, but then she ran towards me and started crying. I pulled her into a tight hug, trying to comfort her.

'Sophie, is it about Fred?' I asked carefully. I didn't want to push her if she didn't want to talk about it. She was a strong girl, but if you knew your mate was in danger, everyone would freak out. Even I was freaking out and I hadnt known I had a brother until two months ago. He already meant a lot to me, so I couldn't imagine how it felt to Sophie, who just got het mate back to lose him all over again. I had wanted to talk to Anna about Sophie. Maybe she could help Sophie because her beloved was Fred's protector.

The day Fred left to save Sophie, he had injected Timothy with something to make sure he wouldn't follow him. Timothy had been so angry with himself because he failed his "easy" task. He told me it was all his fault that Fred had been able to get away. I felt so sorry for him and I told him not to blame himself, but he wouldn't listen. He had left without another word and I hadn't spoken with him since, but I was planning on doing so, today. Sophie needed him right now. He could tell her if Fred told him a lot about her, if he missed her, what he was like when she was not around.

'Sophie, we're going to Timothy now and you're going to talk to him. He will be able to tell you much more than I'll ever can. He has been with him his whole life.' Sophie started crying even harder and she was shaking so hard that I thought the would fall apart.

'N-n-no, I don't want to talk to him, I don't know him well enough. He'll think I'm a total weirdo.' she stuttered. She didn't look at me, no, she was looking outside, looking at the snow falling from the grey sky.

'Don't you think it's beautiful, the snow I mean. It looks so innocent, l don't know why, it just gives everything a magical glow I guess.' Sophie was clearly not ready to talk about Fred, but eventually, she had to tell someone how she was feeling. She opened the window and caught a snowflake in her hand. A smile appeared on her face and I swore she was talking to the little snowflake. Sophie was going insane, but I wouldn't let het get worse.

I dragged her out of the room, not caring that I was still in my pyjamas. There was no one in the house, so I could easily sneak out with Sophie. Not that I wanted to go behind Will's back, but there was no other option right now, Sophie needed Timothy's help, NOW. Once Sophie noticed where I was taking her, she started fighing me with everything she had inside of her.

'No!' she yelled,' I don't want to go.' Her hands were so tight around my arms that I thought they would break.

'Hush, I don't want anyone to hear us or they'll get me back in my bed and then I can't help you. You need help, Sophie, and it's not from me. I promise you, Timothy won't think you're weird. He blames himself, just like you. Maybe you can have a talk and then the both of you will see it's not your fault. Fred left to safe you and it was not your fault you got kidnapped.' After I said that, Sophie was silent for the rest of the walk. Silent tears were rolling down her cheeks. Poor girl.
