Change of Pace

Shadow's POV

I turned around to see a red hedgehog with Cream. Dagger was holding Creams hand tightly. He had his face covered with a red bandana but I could tell he was a hedgehog like I was. It was like he was sending off a sad ora. The air in the room seemed to thin as he walked closer to us.

"This is our leader great leader... Dagger the Hedgehog!" Scourge said and walked up and patted Dagger on the back.

"He's not much of a talker nowadays... The only one who knows why is  Cream," Fiona said as she held Daggers other hand and held it tightly.

"How do you know what he says?" Knuckles asked as his face twisted into a confused look.

"I read his mind and talk for him... It's the most I can do for him since he gave all of us a home," Shade said and put her hand on Dagger's shoulder.

Dagger seems like a great leader. He was calm and kind to his teammates. They were a well working family and nothing could change that. Dagger had a kind heart but it was like he was always sad.

"So how did you all become a team?" Rouge asked the team.

"Well... Dagger found me and Fiona in an alley. We didn't have anywhere to go. Dagger here gave us a home and an opportunity to start over," Scourge said and elbowed Dagger in the arm lightly.

"He found me roaming around the city. I didn't know where to go or who to trust. Dagger helped me out and I soon warmed up to him and I joined the team," Shade said and squeezed Dagger's hand which she was still holding.

"I was the one who found Dagger. I hung out with him for a while and he soon asked me to help him make a team to protect the city. I was the first to join and I and Dagger were roaming around until we found this place and made it our base," Cream said with a smile and hugged Dagger tightly.

"So you're like a family? You seem on a closer level than just being teammates," Blaze commented and they all looked over at Dagger.

"Dagger brought us together and gave us a team at first. But he helped us and treated us better than anyone else. He even help Fiona and Scourge here get married," Shade said and nodded over at the couple.

"Why do you wear a mask Dagger?" Tails asked the red hedgehog as he sat down on a couch with his team.

"We don't know why he wears is... We've never seen him with it off," Shade said as Cream climbed up and sat in Shade's lap.

From the corner of my eye, I looked over at Dagger. He seemed like he was hiding his identity with something else. He seemed so familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.

"Dagger could you please take off your mask?" Cream asked him with a sad voice.

Dagger let out a sigh and touched his mask. Cream put her hand over Dagger's and helped him pull the bandana to his neck. I couldn't see his face but I could see Cream smiling at him.

Cream moved aside so we could see Dagger. He looked so sad and had a huge scar over his left cheek. It seemed to had come from a robot. I wasn't big but looked really bad.

"SONIC?!?" Amy yelled as she ran and hugged Dagger tightly.

"I'm sorry Amy... I'm Dagger now... Things have changed," Dagger said as he pushed her away lightly and stood up.

"Sonic?" Amy asked as Dagger started to cry and ran into the dark hallway and I soon heard a door slam.

"That was my big brother?" Tails asked Amy with tears about to fall.

"T-That was my S-Sonic," Amy said as she ran over to Knuckles and cried on his shoulder.

Tails started to cry and Silver put his arm around him and let him cry. Blaze who was also sitting with Tails tried to calm the little one down. But the tears kept streaming down his face.

"Did you guys know?" I asked team Beatrix and they all looked down.

"Me and Scourge didn't know it was Sonic... We're being honest," Fiona said and Scourge put his arm around her as she started to look sad.

"I knew that was him... I read his mind one day and he was thinking about all of you... He misses you all but he doesn't want to show it. He's trying to move on," Shade said sadly still keeping her head down.

"You all left him! You hurt him and made him this way! Then when you heard he has been missing for eight years you finally come back! He has been trying to let the past go... But he can't because of you!!!" Cream yelled and I could tell she was really angry.

"Cream calm down... It's not helping Dagger. Why don't you bring someone with you and go talk to Dagger?" Shade asked the little rabbit and she let out a huge sigh and nodded.

"Shadow comes with me," She said not even looking over at me.

"What? Why?" I asked hoping that she made a mistake and meant to call someone else.

"Shadow come with me... NOW!" Cream yelled at me which made me flinch.

I nodded and stood up and followed her. We finally made it to the hallway and started to walk down it. We passed different colored doors that I was guessing belonged to the team members. We then came to a huge red door at the end of the hall.

Cream put her hand on the doorknob and grabbed my wrist. She opened the door and dragged me inside. She stomped in and pushed me forward.

Inside the room were pictures of me and the others. Different adventure souvenirs were hung up on the wall. But one of the souvenirs caught my eye.

Hung up on the wall was a gun. It was completely black and had a red marking on the side. I was surprised to see my logo on it. Under it was two gold rings... The old inhibitor rings that I had lost.

Next to them was a picture of me and Sonic. Sonic had pulled me into the picture and had the happy smile on his face. I had an angry face on like usual as Sonic snapped the picture. There was a heart around the two of us and written in small letters was...
