Change of Pace

Shadow's POV

"You better make things right with him or I will break you," Cream said to me harshly and walked out of the room leaving me and Dagger together.

I was pushed further in the room and I felt the piercing look of the small rabbit. I was getting sweaty and my heart was beating quickly. But then I heard someone sniffle and I suddenly softened.

I saw Dagger sitting on the bed the furthest from the front door. He had a brown bandanna in his hands and a picture in the other. He was crying with tears streaming down his face.

I put my hand on his shoulder and he flinched in response and he put the bandana down with the picture. I picked up my hand to see that his shoulder had been wrapped in bandages and so were his knees and hands. I slowly sat down next to him and I could see the scars on his face clearer now.

I looked down at the picture he had put down. It was a picture of everyone before we had left. Sonic was in te center holding the camera and we all filed in behind him. I even saw myself in the picture as I was pulled in by Rouge.

We just sat down silently next to each other. I slowly put my hand on his thigh and he shivered. I could see his eyes move to spot my hand but he never moved his head away from the wall. He wouldn't even look at me.

"What do you want hedgehog?" He asked me not even bothering to look me in the eyes.

"I know that you know my name Sonic," I told him and I heard him growl lowly and he slapped my hand off his leg.

"I told you my name is Dagger!" He yelled at me and I was taken aback by his sudden out break.

"What is wrong with you? What happened? What's wrong?" I asked practically shotting the questions at him.

"You all left me in the dust after we all though Eggman had given up! Don't you and your stupid friends remember!?!" He yelled and stood up and faced his back once again as he looked up at the things hung on the wall in front of him.

He stood there in silence not having anything to say. He just looked up at all of the items hung up on his wall. From weapons to pictures... He had it all. I looked down at my lap in shame as he stood up and looked back at his memories.

I felt... Guilty.

I never though that us leaving would change so many things. I honestly with that we had never left. If we had never left Sonic alone none of this stuff would have never happened. How could I change things back?

"You know that I loved you right? I still do," Sonic said suddenly and I looked up at him suddenly as he kept his back towards me.

"What?" I asked him and he turned around and gave me a smile and tears started to fall from his eyes.

"I loved you Shadow the Hedgehog. Even if you were such a grump and was really mean to me back then... I still liked you. You would protect the ones you care for. You would show respect and wouldn't fight if it wasn't fair. You gave mercy... That's why I love you," Sonic said and more and more tears started to fall down from his eyes and he let out a weak chuckle.

I was about to ask him a question but I was interrupted. Sonic's ears shot up and I saw there was a clear hole in one of his ears. There was a silver ring pierced in the opposite one. Sonic looked over at the door as Shade burst through.

"Dagger! Eggman is back for a second round! Cream, Scourge, and Fiona are already outside!" Shade yelled and teleported away and Sonic dashed out the door.

I followed him and found him in the living room with the others who were still sitting down. They were all looking up at Sonic each looking like they had so many questions. But Sonic had stoped all of them as he held out his hands.
