"Why of course," Bailey said grinning, "it's the quickest attention getter from you."
I rolled my eyes as she plopped down in the seat beside me. I honestly couldn't stay mad at her for long, it was her personality. "So," she started off, "looks like you're going to be queen now. When did this little development take place?"
Heat crept up to my face and I turned my face down to the table. "Umm... Not long? But what have you been doing for the last few days? Hmm?" I raised n eyebrow and tried throwing it back to her.
Her own face turned a light shade of pink and answered nonchalantly, "oh, just you know hanging out with my mate."
My eyes widened and that would have been the perfect time to spit out water if I had been drinking any. "What? Your mate? When did you find your mate? When were you going to tell me this?"
A smile grew on her face as she spaced off and dreamed of him. "A couple weeks after we came here. We started off slow for a while and I didn't want to bother you with my love life when I wanted you to focus on yours. So sorry about that." She shrugged as if it was no big deal.
"I would have liked to of known anyways," I said. "I want to know these things and celebrate with you."
Bailey nodded, "I know, but I felt I may have overwhelmed you if I told you this because you were and still are getting use to this life."
I nodded, I could understand that because I was not in the greatest spot the first few weeks but it still would have been great to know. But I decided not to argue over this. "So where is he now?"
"He's here," Bailey answered, "I just didn't know if you would want to meet him yet."
"Of course I want to meet him," I grinned. "Bring him on over here and invite him to take a seat."
Bailey grinned, "really?"
"Of course! I want to meet the mate of my best friend."
"Okay, I'll be right back," Bailey quickly stood up and dashed off into the crowd. I laughed lightly as I watched her.
I felt a hand envelop mine and I glanced over to the owner of the hand with a smile. He smiled in return and leaned over whispering in my ear, "we'll get started once she returns. Okay?" He rubbed my wrist and made circles with his thumb.
I nodded as my breath hitched slightly at his closeness and when he pressed a kiss to my ear. "Did you know about them?" I asked.
He looked guilty as he leaned away. "Yeah, I did. I had to know, especially because you've been missing her so much."
"It's alright," I told him and untangled my hand with his and put it behind his neck and rubbed the back of his head lightly. "I'm not blaming you. I understand."
His face brightened and I could feel his joy. He took my hand again and kissed the back of it. "I love you."
My own face probably went to a lovey-dovey face like his did and I parroted, "I love you."
"We're back!" Bailey suddenly announced behind me. I startled out of my trance with Liam and turned to face Bailey and the man standing behind her. He was a tall, muscular but leaner werewolf with sandy brown hair and gorgeous gray eyes. He stood both with a protectiveness over Bailey yet awkwardness for being in this situation. "Skylar, this is Josh, my mate, Josh this is Skylar my best friend."
He bowed, "it's nice to meet you, my queen. Bailey has talked about you a lot."
I waved him off, "you don't need to bow. We are practically family. You can call me Skylar. And that's quite interesting." I said this and shot a look to Bailey. She just grinned cheekily at me. I turned back to Josh. "Would you like to sit down? We are about to get started."
