The next day at work, Fletch tried to catch Jac to thank her for looking after Evie
However much she denied it she looked out for him, looked out for his family. It wasn't until right at the end of the shift that he managed to catch her in her office
"Hi. I er just wanted to thank you for looking after Evie"
"It was nothing honestly, just stepping in til dad got back. How is she?"
"upset about that unreliable feckless bastard but ok. Lots of hugs and tears oh and favourite tea of sausage and mash"
"Ah a classic. One of my favourites too"
"Funny I can't see you as a bangers and mash girl"
Jac just laughed . Things almost felt back to normal
"Anyway" Fletch said checking his watch"I'd better run. I have a guest coming tonight, she's due about 6. I'll see you tomorrow. Thanks again Jac. Bye"
"Bye" she said quietly as he left

Time to go home. Microwave meal, wine. Bed

Gemma and Fletch were washing up
"So how's your love life Fletch? Is there a special someone?"
"it's complicated Gem . It's someone at work. We're 'friends with benefits' but..."
"But you want more"
He sighed "yes I want more"
"Are you going to tell her?"
He laughed "unlikely. She has reasons why she feels we can't be together in any way other than what we're doing now"
"Fletch" she said "my marriage is over because we don't communicate. Don't throw this away sorry if that sounds cliched"
"I'm sorry to hear about you and Rob"
"Oh forget it. Fletch go round now. I've got the kids, it's Saturday tomorrow, you're not at work. Go and sort it out"

"Why not?"
"Because I might end up with nothing"
