"I swear she's just as beautiful as before. No, no, she's more beautiful than she was before—I-I can't tell. She's just so beautiful—"Josh chuckled. "Slow down, Ty. You don't know if she has a different special someone yet—I don't mean to crush your dreams or anything, but don't get your hopes up too high yet."
I nodded, my head dropping. My eyes gazed at the floor of my bedroom. "So many old memories popped into my head. Good and bad, mostly good, though. I just..." I trailed off.
Josh nodded. He shifted his weight so he was leaning against my closet door. "Yeah?"
"You know in 2014? How I wasn't in my best place mentally, and how I was feeling cloudy because we'd started drifting away?" I asked, referring to [y/n]. She'd left Columbus to take a job in New York at the end of 2013. We'd lost touch after about seven months. Life got busy. Things got crazy for both of us.
It wasn't just the absence of [y/n] that was deteriorating my mental health, that was just one catalyst. I wasn't doing so well back then anyway.
"Yeah, I remember that," Josh replied, listening. Like he does so well. I loved him for that.
"You know how I wrote Tear In My Heart to vent that?" I asked.
He chuckled again. "Yeah, of course I remember that. The fans still make conspiracy theories about who it's written about all the time. How could I forget it?"
"Well, this is like the opposite of that. It's like I've been feeling nostalgic for a billion years and now I can go back in time and relive all that," I explained, trying to verbalize what I was thinking.
Josh nodded. "That makes sense."
I sighed, smiling. "I want to see her again. I missed her so much, I really didn't think I'd ever get to see her again."
Josh grinned. "It'll happen. I'll make sure of it. I'm still your matchmaker, even after all these years."
I grinned. "You really are the best, Joshua Dun."
