Then here came the next day.

We woke up early to start walking into the forest, and as usual, we encountered monsters from the forest and few humongous creatures ignoring us. Until came afternoon, we reached the hidden village. The people welcomed us cheerfully, treating us like an important people, as if our arrival was a start of a festival.

But Mr. four-eyes Clause wasn't that happy about the celebration, instead he went into his usual fixing eyeglasses up and then spoke. "We're not here to be rest. Please gather your letters and we will deliver it to your acquaintances." He demanded. The happy party ended, one of the elder chief of the village entered the scene holding in his back a sack of compiled letters handing it over to Leopold as he gratefully accepted it.

"Please take good care of our letters, young magic knights?" he said with a light smile on his lips.

"Oh, we sure would!" Leopold replied whole hearted as he stacked the sack on his shoulder and shook hands with the elder. "Just leave it to the Crimson Lions!"

"Don't forget that we, the Golden Dawns are here too." Mr. Clause protested.

"Great. Four-eyes said it." Again, the red head laughed. One hand on his waist and the other holding the sack on his shoulder. "We'll be heading off now then!"

And so just when we arrived, we decided to leave without any further rest nor food. I sighed tailing behind Golden Dawns and my mentor while watching them tease one another, especially Mr. Clause who was easily triggered by Leopold's really hyped jokes. He would always shout at the red head whenever he laughed at him mockingly.

When we reached out of the village's divine borderline that keeps the monsters away, they began to appear. Attacking us on every corner of the forest. I backed away a little, feeling how intense the monsters have become from the last time we came. But while I was trying to calculate, Leopold stood in front of me, blocking me away from the monsters' view.

"Don't worry, little one. Just store some more mana. We can't afford using all of it at once." He glanced at me and wink before facing the monsters back again.

I just nodded to respond regardless if he had seen it or not as I stood still while he opened his grimoire and began to cast explosive spell. The same with the other boys who intimidated the monsters with their own powers. Yuno released a disruptive wind that blew a lot of monsters away from us as we moved forward to the destination. Mimosa was behind them, looking through her plant that could navigate the place we have to go.

The further we took through the routes, the more monsters appeared to be attacking us from behind or head on. some were observing and one of them caught my eyes particularly. It was a monster that was as big as a bear but it had a features of a feline. He was just sitting in the corner of my eyes, observing our every move with sharp piercing nocturnal eyes. It was pure black and does fit the role of a predator. I blinked twice and he disappeared from where he sat as I looked around to search for him making sure that I'm not that far from my mentor's back. Then there, I saw him sitting on one of the corners again, watching as if he's been there for a while. It gave me chills through my spine.

I felt a hand grabbed my wrist. Surprise, I turned to Leopold who was looking in front. "Be careful. It looks like someone's intelligent among them." He warned. I nodded and turned back to the panther like giant from where it appeared and it was still there. "Hold my hand." He demanded.

"H-huh?" I looked at him surprised again.

"We need to make sure you won't stray away from the group. That monster already knows our power. And I assume it's already making a plan of its own." He informed. I doubt for a second while watching his grip on my wrist yet without even any consent, he slid his hand down and held my hand tightly. "Make sure you hold on tight." He ordered and I did.

Why do we have to hold hands? After getting distracted from what he did, I turned back and the panther disappeared making me cautious. But to my surprise, it suddenly ran inbetween me and Leopold.

"Little one!" I heard him called as our hands loosed and let each other go. More monsters surrounded me but I was more shocked from the blood on his arms dripping unstoppably. He was on his knees holding his arm while the Golden Dawns came to assist him.

"Sir Leo—" I was not able to continue after the giant panther appeared in my line of sight. The monsters began to crowd behind me and I can see my team mate's horrified face when they turned towards my direction. But they had to protect themselves too that they cannot back me up.

"Y/n!" Yuno called worried while his eyes rounded. I eyed him to tell that I was fine but he's not showing any calmness even from my reassurance.

The predator moved forward again. slowly as he marched in pure carefulness and awareness that someone is still behind him. his piercing eyes staring right through my eyes like a bunny trying to struggle. I simply gave that stare back, carefully unlocking the pouch where my grimoire is then with all my reflexes, I grabbed the book out and threw it up as it automatically opened on its own with the monster on its way to pound me. When the grimoire opened to a random page, I quickly summoned what's in it, hoping that it's a strong one.

Then lightning began to strike down the earth attacking the panther but his reflexes helped him advance from dodging that he was already on the right in the blink of an eye. Continues lightning began to emerge from the sky and it started wiping away the monsters surrounding me.

"Y/n!" Yuno stretched his hands desperately, signaling me to get off while the monsters were scared and distracted. I quickly stood up from where I was, grabbing my grimoire and sprinted in the middle of the commotion my lightning did. Jumping away from the strikes and then towards the man's outreach, I stretched my hand back and jumped towards him. He caught me that gave the cue for all of us to run. He opened his grimoire and summoning and leaving a strong tornado behind us. Still running desperate with our magic colliding together to create a new unnatural disaster in the forest. "Are you okay?" he asked.

I checked myself before giving a reply. I noticed my arm was bleeding too. Probably it was the time the panther jumped between me and Leopold and its claws dug itself from our skins. "I'm fine." I replied.

"How's your mana?"

"It's fine." I assured.

"Your arms?"

"Yuno. we need to get away as far as we could."

He gave a short glance at me while we're running and then back to the way. "I just have to be sure that you're alright. I can't afford to lose you now." He said.

I sighed. "Don't worry. If you can't help it then worry about it later." I told him.

"Alright." He said. But as we get farther, my mind suddenly fuzzed with haze. My sight beginning to blur while trying as hard as I could to find my way and yet it worsened. My knees began to feel weak, making me kneel into the ground catching my breath. "Y/n?!" Yuno stopped and checked me. He touched my forehead then my cheeks. "This is bad you're running a fever." He said.

"What's happening, Yuno?" the others stopped looking back at us.

"She's poisoned." I heard Leopold said. "That damn beast struck you with his canines." He told me.

I felt myself lifted up from the ground after a while. It was Yuno, carrying me while I struggled to be on my senses. I could feel that it's getting harder to breath and my body was unsettling. "Just hang on there, Y/n." he whispered.
