Beast Boys POV;
"Garfield!" Raven called my name as we walked down the stone path toward the beach.
I hated it that she called me that. But... I liked it because she was the only one who remembered it. So it was kind of like our thing.
"What's up, Rae?" I asked, shoving my hands in my pockets, smiling a bit at her. "You really aren't taking your cloak off?"
"Well I don't plan on getting in the water." She noted, walking next to me now.
"You aren't going swimming with me?" I asked. I admit it, I was a bit disappointed.
"I thought you knew me better then that." Her raspy voice tickled my ears. "You can be a dog and I'll toss a stick for you."
"Awe man, really?!" I asked, popping into a small dog form and jumping up onto her leg.
I noticed a small smile on her lips, but she looked away from me before I could really see it. "Yeah, go find a stick."
"Okay!" I yelled, running off the path and into the woods to Find a stick. I quickly grabbed one and brought it back to her. I whined until she rolled her eyes and took it from me, throwing it back down the path where we had just came.
We were already at the beach, so I just popped back into human form and ran at Raven, swooping her up on my arms and heading toward the water.
I let out a battle cry, about to dive into the water with Raven in my arms, but soon we were floating above the water.
I looked at Raven, her eyes narrowed at me, "what do you think you're doing?"
"Oh come on!" I yelled, "have some fun!"
She thought about it for a second. "No." She said blandly, then let me drop into the water.
After I resurfaced, I noticed that she sat in the sand, running her hands through it. She sat away from the rest of the group, alone like always. She had trust issues, social anxiety and all of that.
I glanced over to see Robin and Cy watching Starfire like she was the only woman on this planet. They were so sad. Yes, Star was very pretty. But she was a total ditz.
I swam in closer, sitting down in the water so it reached my chest. "What's up, Rae? Why aren't you hanging out with everyone?"
Her eyes flickered up to the group, then went back down to the picture she was drawing in the sand. "All the guys will be talking about is Star in her swim suit." She said. "Nothing I care to hear about." She looked up at me, "shouldn't you be over there with your mouth open like a dog?"
"Why would I be over there?" I asked, looking down at the water as I trailed my finger over the top of it. "Robin's the one madly in love with her. Not me."
"It's so annoying." She mused, looking over at the guys and star again.
"What?"
"How totally oblivious she is. He's so transparent, and yet, she's to stupid go notice. It's been this way for how long?"
I couldn't help but smile at her, "Oh Rae. Love is a complicated thing."
"I guess I wouldn't know..." She said quietly, looking back down at her drawing, her hood completely covering her face.
"You okay, Raven?" I walked out of the water, sitting next to her. "Why are you so sad? We are finally out doing something, you should be happy!"
"You don't get it, Beast Boy. You're cute, someone will love you. I'm part demon. I'm scary. I'm so closed off... Who would want to love someone who could so easily kill them?" She looked up at me, the movement making her hood fall back.
Her dark purple hair blew slightly in the wind, her eyes not wavering from mine. She was beautiful, I wished she would wear her hood down more often...
"Crap." She muttered, grabbing at her hood. But I grabbed her hand before she could pull it up.
"No." I said softly. "Leave it down."
Her cheeks burned red as soon as I touched her, but I hadn't noticed how close I was to her. Only a few inches, if that. I couldn't draw my eyes from hers, she was so captivating.
"Hey, Beast boy!" Cyborg called.
I quickly pulled away and folded my hands behind my head, "yeah, what's up, man?"
"Come on! Let's do some jumps out of that tree!" Him and Robin motioned for me to join as they ran in a direction of a large tree that had a limb outcast over the water.
"I'm right behind ya, guys!" I yelled, turning back to Raven. But she was gone. I looked around, where did she... I finally spotted her down the beach talking to some tall guy with black hair.
"Come on, BB!" Cy called.
I got up, watching Raven for a few more seconds before I ran off to meet Robin and Cy.
