I woke up extra early, and I definitely regret it. I'd hate to be late to school, but my gee golly I barely got any sleep.

I get up, turn off my alarm clock blasting my custom ringtone, and stumble my way to my bathroom. I stare at myself in the mirror. Good god I should have gotten more sleep. I brush my [h/c] hair and clip it so it isn't in my face.

I wash my face, brush my teeth, and stared at a bottle of concealer for a good two minutes before deciding to put some on. I don't usually wear makeup, since name brands are SO expensive, but I am sick of the dark bags under my eyes.

I get dressed in my uniform and stare at myself in the mirror again. I retied my bow and straightened my collar, but then jumped as I looked at the time. I ran into my kitchen and opened the fridge. Inside held the lunch I made last night. I grabbed the box and wrapped it with a cloth. I grabbed my phone, keys, and bag before walking out the door.

Each step I took... it was like I was walking to a death sentence. I was so, ridiculously nervous. I don't want to stand out or cause a scene... I'm going to be alone. This anxious feeling followed me to the gates of Seika High, hovering over me like a dark cloud. I walked past the other students, wishing they would stop looking at me.

Class 2-2 is where I was told to be. As soon as I found the door, my heart have a sickening throb. This is it. This is where I make my first impression. I took a breath and then opened the door.

Everyone was talking and not paying attention to me. Good.

The bell then rang. Not good.

"Alright settle down, settle down," the teacher waved off the class. "We have a new transfer student. Please, introduce yourself Ms. [l/n]." I looked at all the faces staring at me and felt my nerves rise up again like boiling water.

"My name is [l/n] [y/n]," I said while bowing. "Nice to meet you."

Whispers. I hear whispers. My god my face is getting hot. "Ms. [l/n], please take a seat." I walk over to the empty desk in the back by the window.

I try to act as normal as I can. I hang my bag up, take out the textbook that the teacher told us to, turned the page, aaaand now I'm freaking out.

I rest my face on my hand, heaving a deep sigh. I can hear my heart pounding, a feeling that is very unsettling. The class class went by surprisingly fast. All we did was read the textbook, answer the questions in the back chapter, and then work quietly on the assigned worksheet as a review.

When I heard the bell ring for lunch, the nerves came back. I sat back in my chair and watched the other students find their friends and walk off to eat together. To my absolute utter surprise, people started to walk up to me.

"Ms. [l/n], correct?" Someone said.

"Um, yes?" I say, my voice audibly shaking.

"Where did you transfer from?"

More people walked up to the desk.

"You're so pretty!"

I stare at all the faces.

"Could I get your number?"

One person pushed through the crowd and gave me a blinding smile. "Hello, my name is Ayuzawa Misaki, student council president. It's very nice to meet you." I looked at her with amazement. She is really pretty with her dark hair and small figure

"Nice to meet you too, Ms. Ayuzawa." I smile back.

"You can call me Misaki." She says. "It is SO nice to have a new, female student at Seika. Would you mind if I have lunch with you?"

Some students grumble in response to her request.

"That would be great," I smile. "I was thinking about eating lunch outside. Do you know any good spots?" I ask.

"Yes, follow me." She grabs my arm, barely giving me enough time to grab my lunch. I let her lead me outside and then to the side of the school to sit on a bench by some trees. The weather is very nice, a cool breeze tosses my hair back. Misaki sits down in the bench, so I follow suit.

"So, Ms. [l/n]—"

"Please, call me [y/n]." I say nervously and unfold the cloth from my bento.

"Okay, [y/n]," Misaki smiled. It was a beautiful smile, like nothing else in the universe could be as bright. "Why did you transfer to Seika, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Well," I laughed nervously, I paused, trying to think of how to phrase this. "Seika is a pretty cheap school. And I can't really afford any of the others." Crap. I used the word "I" instead of "my family". I close my eyes in frustration.

I look up to Misaki and wait for her response. "That's the same reason as me." She sang. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I opened my lunch and ate the rice with a vegetable mix cooked in soy sauce. I took out my chopsticks and started eating.

Lunch was peaceful. Misaki and I talked until the bell rang. She told me about become student council president, having a younger sister, and being top of her grade. Wow. She is really someone to look up to.

We walked back to class together and my mood improved the longer I stayed with her. I feel really lucky to be in the same class as her. On our way back to class, I heard crying. I stopped Misaki in the hallways and stood still, concentrating on the small sound.

"[Y/n], what's the matter?" She asked me.

"Someone's crying." I said, I was sure of it. "Over here." I walked down the hall and found a turn where I found the girl crying. Misaki looked past the corner with me. I noticed another person standing there, just watching the girl cry. Misaki then gritted her teeth and walked up to the scene.

"Takumi Usui!" She yelled. The boy leaning against the wall looked up just before the crying girl ran past us and dashed down the hall in tears. I tried to stop her and help her, but she just kept on running. "Making another girl cry again?" Misaki fumed. "You disgust me, Usui. You need to work on your rejection techniques."

I looked past the corner and saw Misaki shouting at the boy named Takumi Usui. He stands taller than Misaki and his blonde hair barely covers his eyes as he looks at her. I don't listen to Misaki yell, but I snap back to reality as I see her turn around.

"Class is about to start. Let's go, [y/n]." She said and took my hand. Before she spins me around, I swear I see Takami Usui glance at me a little too long.

"Misaki, who was that?" I ask her.

"That was Usui. I recommend you stay away from him. He's nothing but a perv." She grits her teeth as she says the last part.

We arrive back at class and I take my seat towards the back again. Class is half over, and I think this school isn't going to be bad at all. As long as Misaki's there. Yeah, she seems like a cool person.
