Chap 8

I don't think the way I see Seika High will ever be the same. When I walked out of Miyabigaoka that day, I saw how much everyone loved me. Since then, I have been noticing the small things that I have never before. The way people stare a little at my smile or whenever I stand up for someone, it never happens again.

What happened? What is it about me that I am not seeing?

I have been actually feeling okay for the past few weeks. Exam results came in yesterday and I got second place, passing Usui and just behind Misa.

I have actually gotten to know Misaki more personally over the past few days. She told me that her sister actually keeps track of all of the sales, coupons, and giveaways that she can. After that, I started looking into keeping track of sales. Maybe this will help me save up faster.

Entering giveaways as actually lead me to winning some teas, coupons, and a lot of instant ramen.

The school's sports festival is coming up, and the students are getting hyped. Including Misaki. She is very determined to win as many as she can. I am not really athletic myself, but I'd love to watch Misaki.

If I want to free up some time to help Misa, then I'll have to work harder. And that is what I've been doing. I know pushing yourself isn't great, but I've got to do something.

I hand Karasu a double shot espresso to serve when the bell rings and non other than Usui shows up. "Welcome back Usui," I say in a monotone.

"I'd like an inside out iced coffee today please." He says, ignoring my annoyance. He pays, but instead of taking a seat, he stays by the counter, leaning against it, and watching me.

"You can have a seat." I say, bluntly.

"Are you planning on doing anything for the sports festival?" He asks me, ignoring me again.

"No, as far as I know I'm just going to watch and support Misa. Why do you ask?"

"Just curious. We don't have the same gym class so I don't know how athletic you are." I hand him his coffee and give him a half sarcastic smile. "Do you want to get dinner again?"

"No, I'm fine. When I told my manager what happened that day, she apologized and changed my schedule so I have a ten minute break everyday at six. Thanks for the offer though." I say. He looks surprised that I thanked him before he sits down.

The said break at six came around so I walked to the staff's room, letting Asaka know she needs to take over. I get my prepared snack out of my school bag and unwrap it. Today, I bought a delicious onigiri filled with sha-ke (salted samon stuffed rice ball). I ate it gingerly, savoring every taste.

"Why does he keep asking about dinner?" I think aloud. "Heck if I know. I can't figure him out."

"I just want to spend time with you," I hear a voice from behind me say. I nearly choke and fall off the bench I sit on.

"What the heck Usui?! I thought you left!" I shout.

"Is everything okay, [y/n]?" I hear another familiar voice ask me.

"Everything's fine Okura. There's just this stalker that won't leave me alone." I grit my teeth and mutter the last part, glaring at Usui's smirking expression.

When Okura walks in, she jumps in delight at the sight of me and Usui. "So it's true!" She beams. "I thought something was going on between you and this frequent customer!"

"No. Nothing's going on, ma'am." I say.

"You sure? He comes so often and can't keep his eyes off of you! Are you sure he's not a secret boyfriend?"
